Time to get Golden rodded
Well, in preparation for doing some suspension and other work I'm about to order a Golden Rod (Darin, email sent). It will be installed together with Weltmeister short shift kit that's been sitting on my bench for a while.
So, the question is, should any plastic parts be replaced "while there"? Or will the combo of Weltmeister kit and FisterD's Golden Rod take care of all the slop in teh shifter?

Check the small white plastic bushings (these rarely need to be replaced) and also check the plastic bushings on the slide tube inside the shift box on the clamshell piece. We have seen some of these that were worn and loose. They are pricey little buggers at @$20 ea. (4 needed.) Also you need to move the slide tube up to accommodate the new ss lever geometry, so check that the end pieces you flip 180 degrees in the shift box are in good condition with no cracks.

Boys and girls sitting on Golden Rods... Ummm... that did not come out right
What I'm saying is that if you currently have a GR sitting on your bench and have no plans to install for a couple of month, I'd love to get it from you and give you a new one from FD when it's ready to ship. As usual I've procrastinated too long and need one pronto.
