my buddy just bought a 99 with a 1/4 of the miles, white over black coupe, for a few grand less than the starting bid.
It is an "s" though - go figure, and it's "pimp"
didn't know turbo wheels were worth 15k - puts speed lines to shame.

So if you're one of those buyers who is easy going, jovial and not "serious" you don't get an explanation.
I can hear the 'explanation' now: went to register the title at the DMV and the jerk at the counter was a die hard Porsche guy who insisted on having a good look at this rare beauty. He took one look at the one-of-a-kind white dash and his face turned a pale color almost matching the dash perfectly. He refused to give this car a normal title so it's stuck with the salvage title. That watermark you see circling the entire interior has nothing to do with the salvage title, that was put there on purpose by the one-of-a-kind shop that installed that white dash as a trademark to prevent copies.
