Sure, there are plenty of new sports cars that are faster than my 993 BUT:

- NONE have the zuffenhausen thump when you open and close the doors.
- NONE have a rear mounted engine that makes you feel propelled rather than towed.
- NONE have the unmistakable air-cooled engine notes.
- NONE and I mean NONE are hand-made engines like the 993 was.

...and then there's the cool factor, the image. I see guys in Mustangs and Corvettes and they are dime a dozen. Every dude behind the wheel of a 911 simply looks like a bad ***, connoisseur, secret agent, world traveler, ***-kicking adventurer with culture, elegance, taste and sophistication.

Well I'd certainly hope so; they're at least 13 years newer in so-called technology.

But I don't buy anything on numbers alone; a car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir my soul!

Besides, I'm well hung...I don't need to get to the red light first.

I love my 993 dearly and it is truly a unique car but some of the hyperbole about the cars is a bit silly. It's posts like these that perpetuate the notion that these cars are bought as nothing more than manhood extensions.

True, just listen to anything Harley Davidson.

I got the Bring on the Spring brochure from Porsche in the mail yesterday. Every manufacturer puts out the stuff, but the Porsche Design Driver's Selection has me . Lets stick to cars, not overpriced golf trolleys, watches and luggage.

However, I am on the hunt for a new daily driver.

I wouldn't want to trade my 993 for it, but I'm absolutely thinking of a new Competition Orange Boss 302 next year, perhaps as a DD.

Yup.....that's me to a T.

Well, most of it......

Umm, maybe some of it?

Uh, if I have to be honest (and this IS an internet forum), more like none of it.

In my case anyway....

Same here. Not only that, but I may be one of the very few Nascar fans that owns a 993. Talk about a different image, but I also love American muscle. I own one of those too.

Funny thing...I watch NASCAR too. If a road race is on, I'll watch it instead, as I'd rathier watch Sports Cars. I did a number of laps in an older open wheeled V-8 racecar @ TMS a few years ago at about 160mph. I stopped the degrading comments about Stock Cars making nothing but LH turns after that. Those guys run that track in Traffic at 200, that takes some skill and *****.

I've also ridden shotgun with Pat Long a few times in a Cup Car on a road course. He's got skill and ***** too-I didn't think a car could physically do what he makes it do prior to my first ride with him.

Anyone in professional motorsports today that has any kind of success, is indeed an top notch athlete.
