Default Great trade in offer

There's a large Ford Mistang dealership not far from my home (in Lake City Wa) who is looking for high end foreign trade ins. Apparently, Ford Motor Company is really pushing hard to "convert" these "former" Ford customer/owners back into American Iron. The deal is if you purchase an '11 or (now available" '12) 'stang GT, the local dealer will install the IRS from the Shelby Mustang on the "standard" GT. In addition, they provide a guarantee that your lap times at any local road course will be "faster than any 911 (other than Turbo)" or they will refund your money and give you your old car back.

PM me and I'll forward you the name of the dealership.

I don't doubt that the new Mustang is a very formidable car and most would probably beat a NA Porsche on a track due to the high HP, but until they improve their quality control and their plastic bits and fit and finish and their rattles, and their......, I don't think they will see too many people trading in their high end foreign (esp Porsche) cars. No disrespect to anyone who considers, its just one man's opinion.

After reading this again it got me thinking that this is an April Fools Joke??!!! No one would trade their 993 in for a Stang!!!!

LOL, I would love to see a stock Stang beat my stock C4 on a Auto-X course.

Ooh.....wow....I'm salivating on my IPhone.

Proof they don't get it: they think it is ALL about laptimes. Do this, and one sells their soul.

Just one more opinion. We own a 993 and a 2005 Ford Explorer. After more than 5 years (knock on wood) of ownership absolutely nothing has fallen off or broken. I used to think all American cars were crap. Now, I think Ford is the only American car I would buy. The Ford Explorer is a solid car (at least so far). I think the car business is very dynamic but perceptions are hard to change. I once thought of Toyota as top quality. Remember that?

Having said all that, a Mustang (horse) is altogether a different animal than a 993 (fill in your favorite animal here).

I went to our auto show yesterday, and sat in a new Mustang...not my car type. I like the retro styling outside, but the driving position, height of the windows, visibility, instruments ...uuugh.

However, my heavy hauler is a Ford F250 Super Duty with a V10. I have had very few issues to fix, its been very solid. Used to be a Chev truck guy (along with the 911 of course) but I would not hesitate to choose Ford again for a truck.

There other cars look quite well built, and they have some of the best styling of any of the domestic car makers I think. Would I buy one? Perhaps but I saw nothing that really turned my head.

Cheers,

Mike

My commen had nothing to do with Ford quality. It had everything to do with comparing the driving of a Porsche with a Mustang.

Just back from a local Ford dealership, ironically enough that this thread popped up.

The bottom line is I dont drive the turbo much at all these days, havent tracked in two plus years coupled with the fact I need a newer daily driver, I came home with a 2012 Fiesta! Who would have thought me driving a Ford product.

Anyhow, its actually a pretty cool little car for the money and the fuel mileage is better than the Scion Xb I've had for 6 years.

The rub is I traded in my 993 turbo for it. I'll miss the Porsche but I will be loving the fuel mileage!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that if your trade in is a 993 911, in addition to them installing the IRS from the Shelby Mustang, you can have the automatic tranny as a "no cost" option, and an additional cup holder.
