Default Fister golden rod is worth it's weight in gold.

I put this on my car last week and I can't believe the difference it makes. The shifter no longer feels like old ford mustang.

Go get one and put it on. It takes longer to remove the shield than it does to install it.

Do it ... Do it .... Just do it!

I've been thinking about this mod. Did you (can you)? add a short shift kit as well?

Yes... But I didn't yet. I was replacing lifters the same day, so I didn't have enough time.

On his website, I think he sells the package. I bought a b&m shifter from a rennlister.

I don't need this post either, but I think I'm doing it this spring along with Weltmeister short shifter thats sitting on my bench. And M030 springs. And M030 bars. And HDs. And FPB. And aluminum pedals. They are all sitting in utility room here. And... where do I find time to install all this stuff? Still have to address the seats too.

Can someone help me to understand the change this makes? This seems like an inexpensive and easy mod. My shift lever right now feels pretty good. But maybe I'm missing out on something.

The stock shift coupler looks like the photo... it has a rubber part in there that gets sloppy over time. (maybe it was sloppy when new, I don't know). The Goldenrod replaces it with the uni joint shown in the link below. You lose that rubbery vague feel that the stock shifter has. A very nice upgrade.

Smile Sorry boys, you can no longer join this exclusive Club...

...I have the Platinum Rod, installed by none other than Darin Fister as well as the SSK. The Platinum rod is NLA...it appears the Golden Rod is almost, mind you, almost as good.

Where it has made a difference for me, is shifting under load...let's say in the middle of a sweeper you need to go from 2nd to 3rd. As an example coming down the "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca. You get your 3rd gear without a problem, and know that all is well. Try this with sloppy stock linkage and you may not find 3rd gear, not a good thing.

Just get the Golden Rod and the SSK...cheap up grade, and so worth it.

I'm also a fan. Put the SSK on my TT and it is without a doubt the best bang for the buck mod I've ever done on one of my cars. Yes....you cant tell the difference!

Your list is too long.... Forget the seats for now and get to enjoying the driving experience.
