White gauges vs new odometer?
Question - the 993 cab I am looking at has beautiful white guages. Its a great look with the chesnut and black dash, the aluminum shifter and hand brake etc... But I understand that there were no stock white guages. Have just the faces been changed or is it possible the full guage cluster panel was replaced and the odometer is possibly wrong (too low)? Hmm...

White gauges were not only OEM but bad to see at night and probably aftermarket.
I'm not saying its worst but just not great...
I have TechArt silver gauges and at night it illuminates orange color ambiance, which I like!
It also wasn't that expensive...

Don't think I have a pic handy, but will take one and post.
Maybe you saw some dials with burnt bulbs? Mine at night look exactly, and I mean exactly, as black dials at night. We have actually compared them at night with the black dials and you can't see the difference.

I was surprised at Stelath's comment that white OEM gauges are hard to see at night.
From what I've seen they are very legible. NR gauges, on the other hand, look much better during the day and are hard to read at night unless modified. That was the reason I've gone from NR to OEM black at this point. Would have gone to white but the costs are astronomical and I'm not sure I'm in love with clock cutouts for warning light (pretty minor complaint).

I wouldn't say my silver faced dials are hard to see at night, but the illumination is somewhat uneven. You can tell where the little backlight bulbs are and the markers aren't quite as crisp as a standard black gauge. The way they look during the day more than makes up for that though IMHO.

When I first got my car, I noticed the illumination to be uneven, and dim in certain places of different dials. It ended up being that I had a few bulbs out on 3 of the 5 dials.
At first, I thought the unevenes/dim was because the silver dials, and lived with it for a few months, until I got on another car at night with silver dials that had all the bulbs working and saw the difference. That's when I checked the bulbs on mine, and sure enough, they were burnt.

I have silver gauges on my car that were done by North Hollywood Speedometer. They are completely silver and have no holes for the warning lights. I have absolutely zero issues with illumination at night. The only difference is that the warning lights don't shine as bright which, in my book, is a plus.
Here's the only pic I could find...
