Default Quick Wheel Fitment Question

I am going to look at a set of factory 996 Sport Classic II wheels today. I know in a NB 996 configuration these wheels will work. The seller states the wheels are:

Front - 18X8
Rear - 18X10

I know I am fine on the rears since they are 10" I have seen most of these wheels on our 993 NB fronts as 7.5. From the limited research I did the 18X8 should work just fine. Am I correct? If all works well I'll have a new set of rims for the Rivi Blue Cab. TIA

Don't do it!!!

7.5" on the front works fine but limits the tire width you can use. 225's would work up front.

I was told a little rub with the 8's from lock to lock. Basically steering wheel cranked all the way left = rub and all the way right = rub. Told people use them all the time. Wheel Enhancement told me this and I figure they are as good a source as any. They also said 225-40-18

Sport Classic II are 8 Et52 & 10ET65 they fit a n/b 993 perfectly. You can use 225/265 or 235/285 tires at any height that is street drivable

+1. The stock 18" twists are 8" @ ET52 and 10" @ ET65.

Thanks Bill. I was hoping you would chime in. I am in the parking lot getting ready to look at the wheels. Feel better now. Thanks

Well just got back and the wheels are in good condition. Couple of rub marks etc. With no major damage. They turned out to be 18X10 and 18X7.5 so I know I'm safe. Feel like I got a good deal at $500.00 for all four with center caps ( basic silver ones). I verified all the part numbers and they're the real deal. They will go off to be refinished for about $500-$600. Not counting tires I should be around $1100.00 for the set refinished with caps. Pics when I get it all done.

Weren't the 996 Sport Classic wheels 7.5" wide at the front end just like the "twist" 996 wheels? I know the "MY02/Carrera Lightweight" wheel was 8"/ET52 but these were introduced on the 3.6 model.

You are probably right we were posting at the same time. They ended up being 18X7.5 for the front. The seller had them in boxes for a few years and thought they were 18X8. This was the reason for my thread. I finally took your advice Moffat. I now have 2 sets of wheels. Bad influence

So with a 7.5" front width (as used on 3.4 996s and 986 Boxsters with 18" wheels), are these wheels that Mike just bought still "Sport Classic IIs" or are they called something else?

They are Sport Classic II's. They have the 993 part numbers on the inside of the wheel. Now who knows if they were stock on the 996 they guy owned. They may have been added at a later date. I did verify all the part numbers. So maybe they were on a 993 at one point in their life. If you go to Wheel Enhancement they are calling them Sport Classic II's
