I helped friend find a 1994 3.6 Turbo 8 years ago. I was at his house the other day and took it for a spin. It's been about 8 years since I drove I drove it last. He has done a few upgrades to the motor, probably around 400 hp.

The Big question is, would I prefer a 993 over a 3.6 Turbo?? Yes....

Power - Advantage 3.6. 993 has more bottom end, but my gosh once the turbo kicks in, hold on for dear life.

Handling – Advantage 993. The 3.6 felt like the front end was loose and the back end wanted to come out in the corners. My 993 felt more balanced and neutral.

Looks - Advantage 993. Looks are subjective but our 993s are the best look 911s ever produced. The 3.6 has the best wheels ever on a 911, but the overall car look very dated.

I would like to own a Black/Black 3.6 Turbo one day, but only as an addition not replacement of my 993.

I believe that 3.6 Turbo is more rare and collectible than any normal production 993.

3.6 Turbo rocks - as does the 993. If it isn't a 993 turbo, I'd go for the 3.6 turbo.

I'd probably say my favorite pcar was my 91 turbo. It had a couple of nice mods and was very quick. I'd take it back over my 993 let alone a 3.6.

I'm not arguing which is a better 911, I would love to have a 3.6 Turbo, But I like the looks and drivability of a 993 more that a 964 Turbo.

Biggest drawback for me now in 2011 is that the 964 Turbos are CIS engines. Yeah, you can do a Motec conversion or something, but then you're kinda killing the value. I recently had an old, old, old customer have me take a look at a 930 I did the engine on almost 20 years ago. Wow. I know there will always be the mad scientists around to keep the old spec stuff running, just not me.

Yep. Avoiding CIS (garbage IMHO) and semi trailing arm rear suspension are the main reasons I chose my 993 over a 964T back in 1998. I haven't regreted this decision once since then.
