Default Pre993Ownership Checklist

Before I actually acquire a 993 (wanted ad posted in the wanted section already ). I would like to know if there is anything else that is essential to know for owning a 993.

last time, I covered the financial part https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ship-cost.html

other than that
here are a few that i can think of that might/must be essential(?).

~ definitely a PPI no matter where I'm buying it from
~be aware of oil leakdown % from the PPI , right? because that'll suggest whether or not a top end rebuild will be needed in the near future, right?
~ when checking a car out, if any 993 owner is free, have him tag alone to point out if there are any super major flaws that an untrained eye can't see
~ learn where the good repair/ maintenance shops are around the area
~learn what preventive stuff I could be doing to the car to keep it in good shape
~learn the parts of the car ( o.O i feel like thats going to be tough)
~ learn a few simple maintenance repair tricks so I could keep ownership cost down ( anybody got a link to a guide or something? ^_^ )
~ get to know a few of you guys in the local area
~and of course, get on rennlist everyday

Anything I'm missing? I'm sure there are a few that I'm missing. Let me know, because that's why I'm here.

Thanks

I think you're good. There's nothing wrong with being a bit cautious when buying a decade-and-a-half old premium German car but you sound like you've got your bases covered. Just keep a cash reserve around for any unscheduled repairs you can't do yourself and enjoy it.

Between this site, Rennlist, and the Essential 993 Companion, I think you've got more information about the 993 than you could ever use.

Hi

The only thing apart from general condition, is keeping a very close eye out for any accident damage.

Have you driven one yet? Once I drove a 993 for the first time I was absolutely hooked. If you can, find one that you know is in good condition (maybe a local owner from RL would oblige). That way you could see what a well maintained car should look and feel. A good opportunity for questions about costs and of course.....upgrades!
