I'm asking for a picture or video because I have no idea what latch people are referring to that "can be pushed down" and "stays locked" on the front hood
The latch that is front/center where the hood's "hook" drops into. Press that latch down into the car, using your thumb as if it were the hood's hook. The latch is spring loaded so will require a bit of a push, but all it takes is maybe depressing it about 3/4" and it will click. Light will turn off because it thinks the hood is down; done. Just remember to pull the hood release (to open the latch that you had closed) before you try and close the hood.
