All:
I had to leave the hood open all day because the battery was on charge. How do I turn the light off? Tried to find the little button, to no avail. Couldn't even find a connector to disconnect.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Paul.

Close the latch that sits in the trunk area, not the one on the hood. Once you trigger it to close the light will go off. Not sure on coupes, but cabs will have the interior lights on as well if the trunk is open. When I put mine on the trickle charger I removed to light in the hood and keep the interior light in the off position. I also keep the bulb handy in the glovebox in case I need it. You just need to make the car think the hood is closed, but always remember when you go to really close the hood you will need to pull the hood release or the hood will not close. This is why I just take the bulb out. Kind of useless IMHO.

Arena993's got it right but taking the bulb out of the trunk won't fool the trunk into thinking it's closed. It's all controlled by the microswitch that's located with the trunk latch assembly. That's why you must depress the trunk latch to shut off all battery drain while the hood is open. Many times, battery drain is caused by the microswitch being out of adjustment, even while the hood is closed. When I depress the latch, I try to put a shop rag over it to remind me to pull the lever before trying to close the hood.

There is a plug below the latch, 2 wires black plug, just unplug it and all the lights will go out. You will have the carpet pulled back already to access the battery so just reach in behind the black metal "frame" and unplug it, it is clipped in just like the wires for the engine lid light switch (I unplug that one when I leave the engine lid open for extended periods too).
This way you won't try to close the hood with the latch closed
(done that) or have to "pop" the hood release before closing (this saves at least 3 steps each way and for a lazy person like me that means alot
).

I do what Mike does and have since I got the car. I don't fully close until it clicks, just enough to tip the mercury switch or whatever sinister evil thing knows to turn the light on or off.

My switch must be in need of adjustment. Light is still on when I lose sight of it as the trunk lid closes.
Maybe that's why my battery was dead...

GR8330 wins the prize. The factory showed me how to do this when I bought the Porsche Inteligent Charger. Close the li on the wire were the corner of te hod is (ruber seal turns a corner - has plenty of bunched and loose rubber there) and it doesnt damage the lead. At keast it hasnt in the 5 years Ive had the charger.......siple. No messing with wires fuses or bulb LOL!
