Default Fuel injector report card

I hope this works.
We scanned the injector report card.
Also, I scrapped the clutch snorkel, got the new engine tin without the huge hole, and powdercoated them black.
Just wanted to share a few of the winter projects.

Kevin

Steve Weiner has recommended RC engineering. They did a great job on the injectors. I was very pleased.

I don't really care for the old technology OEM injectors. On my last 2 993's I changed them to the seimens/motoron pencil injectors. Much better spray pattern and new technology. Both cars improved greatly from the change. Better idle and snappier throttle response. Sorry just had to share. Nothing like hindsight.

Very nice Kevin.

I cheaped out on the tip tin and am just going to cover the hole.

What did you do for the vent tube, leave the hose on or make a screen?

What is the benefit of removing the clutch snorkel?

I'd like to research these injectors but nothing came up from my search...

Do you have a link?

Thanks.

Hi Kevin. Like you I scrapped the clutch snorkle gear with the airbox (went to MSDS dual cone) and put a brass mesh over the clutch exit hole. Replaced the tinware with the tipo non hole tinware and it looks really clean. Great mod, lost a few pounds and made for a much cleaner engine bay look......did the ultimate soundpad upgrade and the colour coded inlet manifold while I was in there along with the double sided alloy single pulley injector service (had one dripping and all dirty) - Your engine bay was a big inspiration for this project

Cheers
M

Try this instead:
Siemens Deka 4 Mototron High Impedance (Long Style) EV1
Don't know if it's the right part but somebody with detailed knowledge should be able to ID them. Maybe even point us in the right direction for a replacement injector.

The standard Bosch injectors 0280150786 are high impedance (15,6 Ohm) and are rated at 234 cc/min or 22 lbs/hr at 3 Bar fuel pressure. This information allows choosing a suitable alternative:

When switching injectors you want to be as close as possible to the original flow rating as to not upset fueling. Alternatively fuel pressure can be adjusted to compensate.

Fuel pressure and injector flow do not have a linear relationship (i.e. 2x the pressure does not equal 2x the flow) but acts as a square root function.

Standard 993 fuel pressure is 3.8 Bar, therefore standard injectors as installed flow:

(3.8/3.0)^0.5 x 234 = 263cc/min

When switching to say 300 cc/min @ 3 Bar injector the 993's fuel pressure needs adjustment to:

(x/3.0)^0.5 x 300 = 263cc/min ---> x = 2.3 Bar

Another alternative is to leave fuel pressure as is and remap the Ecu to suit the larger injectors.....

Hope this helps.

You got cheated, they didn't do 7 & 8.........

But seriously, what mileage do you have on your car? From the report it looks like the cleaning had outstanding results. What was the cost for the cleaning/testing if you don't mind my asking?

Thank you for the responses.

Macca, you have done alot of work on your car. It looks great! Also, thank you for the nice compliment. With new cars becoming more complicated and heavy, I love keeping our cars simple. Even if that means sacrificing some comfort features.
My wife just rolls her eyes at my projects.

For the hose coming out of the transmission, I am going to do what Macca has done and put a brass mesh around the tip of the hose.

Cost was $154.00. The process was pretty easy on their web site.

Bill, my car has 128,000 miles. I am pleased with the results.
Two of the injectore were dripping causing an occasional gas smell.

More pictures included.

How does it run now?

Also, very interested to hear about these pencil injectors by Siemens.

The car currently is in pieces.
I looking forward to putting it all back together.
