UPDATE.. dont buy the Bosch spark plug cables from Amazon. The ignition cables provided dont have to correct female style connectors. Going to return and get the Berus.

I love my 993vram turbo conversion. I am running the Garrett GT28RS turbos. These seem ideal for the setup.

Bob-
Todd at protomotive dyno'd a varioram setup with cats a few years back and got 410hp & 360tq (+125hp and +110tq) at crank. With my setup we are shooting for +140ish hp and +120ish tq. But you never know.. Keep fingers crossed.

Default turbos in and intercooler fitted

Two weeks since I got kit. Boy is this work. Getting everything to fit has proven interesting. Those red pipes were the first killer. Getting them to fit was a pain. Then came the exhaust. Protomotive made a booboo and sent me the setup for a wide body. So I had to cut off the ends. Those will get fix later. Getting the headers\turbos\exhaust to bolt up was another bunch of fun. Tore my hands all up getting these damn things in. Aw the labor of love.....

So the we are off to Florida for a week of beach. Probably a good thing so my hands can heal. When get back off the tail goes to finish paint and Im going to finish the build and fire it up..

Here are a few photos of the build..

So you are not doing anything to the internals of the engine, right? No camshaft work (or timing adjustments) or other upgrades (lower compression pistons, ARP rod bolts, headwork)? Just out of curiosity, how many miles on the engine?

Cheers,

Mike

Correct. No internals. This is the basic stage 1 setup. Stage two is the internals. Car has 60k miles on it.

Default After many many months it is done..

After whats seemed like a year this project is done. Only thing left is a dyno and extra tuning if needed. My first impressions are WOW. What a rush when the turbos kick in. Smile from ear to ear. Its not crazy, but just enough power for this car. Now I need to break it in. Tomorrow is suppose to be a nice day, thought I would take it out on Highway. Of course not breaking any speed limits...

I will post the dyno numbers in the next few weeks.

Thanks to Todd at Protomotive, Darin at FD Motorsports and Sal at Perfect Power for all their help along the way...

Good times...

Personally, I'd never do this setup w/o changing the internals. I have done stuff like this before on other cars and destroyed the engine with only low boost.
You had the engine out, spent a good amount of money on the parts. It would have been easy to tear the engine apart and do some carillo or similar rods, lower compression forged pistons and ARP hardware. That's your insurance that things will hold.
It might be OK for you as you live in the US and really only use WOT for seconds at a time until you already break the speed limit but here in Germany this kit would break the engine within the first month of installation. If traffic and weather permits fast driving, I usually go all out and I'd be worried every time I step on it.
So I hope you won't blow the engine doing the dyno testing.
Good luck with this setup.
