Hey Zane - I thought you'd be interested .... i saw a book at Borders (Wheaton) this week called "Street Turbocharging" that you should definitely pick up. Unless you've already gotten yourself fully up to speed, trust me that there's a lot to learn about turbocharging a car. Wish I'd seen this book when I started this process. Definitely check it out. Probably not too late to change certain things about your system, like turbo sizes, etc.

Hi Zane,

Looks like a fun project. I'm just about to start my "get me through winter project". I'm doing the opposite your doing, your making a car go faster, I making it stop better.
A full RS brake kit. Not as involved as you, but it'll get me in the garage and thinking of spring! Maybe a few
I bought my car in Chicago. Nice city.

Hmmm ... is that Mike W's former car? I'm guessing it is by the Motons and RS splitters. You got a great car! Your car and mine had a lot of fun on track together!

p.s. I would recommend against the big brakes. They'll only make you slower by adding rotating mass. And yes, I have big reds.

That's right, it is his old car. Been a great car for me.
As far as RS brakes, I've read all kinds of opinions on them, some say no, some say yes.
There are tons of threads on them. I'm of the opinion that the guys at Porsche that built the real RS decided to put them on the car,
so there must be a reason.
I picked up the full kit for about 50 cents on the dollar from another Rennlister and I needed new brakes.
Well I really did not need a full brake kit, but it sounded better when I told my wife
Oh yea, the most important thing..... they look cool
If you ever see Mike say hello for me.

Now back to the Turbo

Hi Eric, is this the book? I check it out. Just spoke to Protomotive yesterday. Kit is scheduled for first week of March.

Nice project!
Do you have the ABD, LSD options? Are these necessary to have the RS Brakes work properly?

Hi Geoff, I though about doing bigger brakes as well. Maybe a later project. So far Ive really been enjoying working on the car. Right now replacing engine gaskets and plugs\wires. Much easier working on when motor is out of the car. Enjoy your project.

I see you use to own a Healey. Just before I was born my Dad (Donald) had a Healey, after my birth the Healey was sold and that's how I got my name... Geoffrey.
The Healey brother's names were Donald and Geoffrey Healey. I was born to be a car nut.
Before my love of all things Porsche I had Triumphs, TR6's, a TR4 and a
GT6.

Hi Geoff, I miss the old girl. It was a great car for Southern Cal, but with Chicago's weather I just didnt think it was the best choice. Plus I needed room in my garage for the 993. I might get one again someday or a jag. BTW, thats a great story. cheers, Zane

Default Making Progress

Moving right along. Got the injectors installed, plugs changed, valve cover gaskets replaced, LWF kit installed, fuel filter installed, distributor belt replaced, rotors and covers replaced, ISV valve cleaned, #2 syncro replaced and tranny cleaned up (I had this done). Working on the plug wires now. Using the Bosch wires from Amazon. Pretty easy swapping over the plastic clips from the original wires. What a pain getting those screws under the intake.

The Turbo kit is suppose to ship in the next two weeks. Cant wait to get it.
