I am in need of a catalytic converter for my 1996 993. I assume a cat for a 1996-1998 will work. 1995 won't.

For anyone who has done the cat bypass on their '96 (or above) 993 and don't plan on using it again, I'm your man. Willing to pay a reasonable price for a cat in good condition. EDITED: Need Bischoff models.

I'll tell you the story later.

You are correct on models. Too bad, as I have some Bischoff cats in the garage. To use them, you would have to change header/HEs.

That's what I suggested, I just couldn't remember the name DACH. I sent him a link to a thread on the DACH 200 cell cats. I think they would sound nice.

Nope. Backed into a decorative stone in a parking lot-hit it pretty hard. Thought it was just my exhaust tip. Not. Lots of damage. Left muffler and cat with some other minor items.

Since I am going to take the opportunity to replace my RSR's with Stage II's from FDMotorsports, I'm hoping to find a stock cat that no one has any use for. I could go with 200 cell cats but they are $1200-$1500 and even more, depending. It would be nice to have them but it would also be nice to ease the pain ($) with a used stock Bischoff catalytic converter.

Yeah, cats are not cheap. I got a good price from another RLer on some Dansk 100 cell split flows.

Cat bypasses might be an option for you, I don't recall what emissions tests you guys have.

You might also check with Pat Williams and see if he or one of his customers has something?

A call to Pat was made first thing this morning. No cats. I called a couple of local guys who have done cat bypasses but they want to hold on to their catalytic converters. Can't blame them.

IIRC and from what I had researched, you should expect to pay $150-$200 for a Bischoff cat with around 50,000 miles. I think I sold mine for about $200, and it had far less than 50,000 miles.
