Andreas,
Fantastic work. I knew the perfectionist from your posts. I am now convinced you are also an artist.
The choice of this Amboyna wood is certainly a good one. It has fantastic texture.
As a sidenote, not sure if they log legally in Indonesia as I know that in the Philippines the species is protected (they call the tree Narra there).
Other 'old world' woods that came to mind with great texture would be Thuya (used for carving in Essaouira, Morocco), Olive tree (many objects made from it in southern France) or Bubinga (African rosewood). That's just a sample of woods I came across with during my travels. Not sure if they would be available in your neck of the woods though?
(pun intended)
If your waiting list ever shrinks (unlikely it seems), I would like to add my name...
Chris

To those who are still awaiting a PM/Email response, please read:
I’ve been out of pocket since Wednesday when I came down with a kidney stone. The pain was beyond comprehension, and I was taken to the ER by ambulance. Sent home later Wednesday with drugs and the wish to pass the stone. Nothing happened, and by Thursday evening, things were far worse. I was literally screaming in pain every time I tried to get out of bed. Took yet another ambulance ride to the ER Friday morning and by last night was in surgery to install a stent in my ureter.
So now I’m back home, nice & clean, and resting. I’ll need another operation in a week to remove the actual stone.

I'll be in better shape by Monday and will respond at that point. I apologize for the delay.

Andreas, hang on! I've had two of these suckers in my kidneys... it's excruciating. Are they going to do lithotripsy? If so, make sure you are not allergic to epidural. The procedure itself is not bad, the next day or so is not fun. But it's nothing compared to the pain of the actual stone.
Feel better soon! Best wishes go out to you.

Ah, good times. I've had a few kidney stones. My heart goes out to you, Andreas.
Although they usually are nothing more than a pain, boy are they painful. Sometimes they can break up bigger stones with ultrasound, and no surgery. Then it just feels like you're gonna pee something the size of one of your fine clocks out through your....well, you know the score.
Probably the most painful thing I've ever felt, and I've been dating crazy actresses in L.A. for 20 years.
Good luck, old man.

Andreas,
Sorry to hear about that. I'm sure everything will come out fine in the end. Prescription and recreational drugs will be your friend for a little while.![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
Cheers,
John

Sorry to hear this, Andreas. I had a very similar experience two years ago without another occurrence (knock on calcium) and I was fortunate enough to be able to pass the little ninja deathstar after only one day ...., but I have to say, ER's have the BEST drugs of all ....
They tell me I was quite the comic during the CATSCAN in my little backless cocktail dress ...![surrender](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/surrender.gif)
I hope you suffered a little less 'exposure' and are on the mend ..

Actually, there is a correlation. Coke/Pepsi contribute to stones according to my urologist. But generally, the more you drink (of anything) the less chance there is of stones.
