Default RS HEATER TUBE BYPASS QUESTIONS

Ordered a RS heater bypass tube to put into my car. I noticed there was no cutout for the folllowing items:

1) Series Resistor for Engine Compartment Blower Motor
2) Temperature Sensor (in Blower Duct) for Engine Compartment Blower Motor

I have read other treads where people have made provisions to have them installed by cutting the slot with a Dremel

What will happen if i remove the above items?

I went ahead and made provisions in mine for the above items.

I read somewhere that you need to add a resistor to simulate the resistance of the missing eng comp blower so your cabin fans will work properly. Why would you need to reinstall a sensor and resistor that are a part of the blower fan you have removed?

I don't have a technical response, but I did what most people do - zip tied the sensors/wires neatly out of the way.

No issues with the (reduced) heat in the cabin. Maybe in a cold winter, but that's not an issue for me.

Good luck

Matt

If you remove these .. you need to remove the relay in the panel next to it. It will stop all power going to the wires.

Makes sense. Anyone have a photo/description of the relay in question?

Exactly the same results. I did remove the relay...it's one of the square ones on the bottom of the box next to where the blower motor was. If your air stops working, you removed the wrong one.

I've always felt this article was the definitive word on what to do. So I duplicated it in my 96 when I put the bypass pipe in. Everything works fine. Apparently some don't have problems without simulating the blower motor load, I was too much of a chicken to try.

what if i just simply remove the 30A fuse, will this be the same as removing the relay?

tried removing the relay, and it doesn't seem to want to come out.

i also go a red light in the dash: 1:00. I believe its the blower.
