You are right. There are some very subtle differences there and I agree the top ones look better too. I wonder if they have changed between inception and production....

All good, & welcome to Rennlist!

am I the only one who thinks this piece of foregone porsches should be left in the past?

I just don't think these wheels work very well with the modern cars and look a bit silly in sizes from 18 to 19"

No, you're not alone. I tend to agree these don't look quite right on a 993+ Porsche. I love Fuchs though and they look fantastic on a period car, but I just don't feel the same way when they're installed on a modern equivalent for some reason. Maybe all the nostalgia clouds my judgement.

I read the first page of this thread and was about to say the same thing. It's forced nostalgia and they don't suit the larger, more modern 911s.

I like the Zuffenhaus 17s on a 964. I think these are one of the only ones that maintain the correct proportions and give you the strength and weight benefits of the original.

FYI

Apparently, at the Fuchs (original manufacturers) website, they have a survey for the forthcoming 17- and 18-inch Fuchs forged alloys. For those Fuchs fans out there, you might want to help contribute your opinions regarding size and offsets. Deadline is until August 31, 2011, so help get the word out to make it happen!

The website is in German, but Google Chrome & Internet Explorer 9 translates it to English. Also, there's an "English" button on the site as well.

The Fuchs design looks a bit too "elegant" on today's cars. I am not a fan of the "new" Fuchs design and would gladly go with the original Fuchs center if there was only a way to mate the center to a stepped barrel. The multi piece (with fasteners) give an old design a new aggressive look.

-Now how can this be done?
-Special advance thank you to FoudeS for the "donor photo". -And please ignore the poor perspective on added wing.

"Fuchs Performance Group" (mentioned on page 1) said last fall that an 18" version of their interpretation of the original wheel will be available this spring. I guessed they missed spring, but I check their website semi-regularly to see if it is out. I personally like their version and think it will be perfect for my retro duck tailed 993. I've had my Victor Equipment wheels now for 5+ years; it's time for a change!

I'm in for some Fuchs if and when the 18s" are available. I think 18s on a 993 might be the ticket especially on a white C2S.

Default Recap, part 1

17" are available from AirKewld (Iozzio's) & Zuffenhaus (Jeff Alton's design).
IIRC, Lindsey Racing's & Rota's 17s are built on 16" hoops.

Anyone confirmed 993 fitment (widths/ offsets)?
