Hey ... who hijacked my thread :-)
I'm still not trading my new R8 for the Benz wagon (good thing for the Benz there were no corners on the way to the grocery store)!
I promise to report back on a comparison when the new R8 arrives :-) I must driving around in the 993 on an incredible Vancouver day, I'm having some second thoughts.
Best regards, Doug

I'm just kidding ... I enjoyed the entire dialogue
I'm getting the V8 - I really don't need any more power for my use, and it probably has superior reliability and lower overall maintenance costs than the V10.
For anyone that's still listening, please feel free to comment to Derek on the thread or more directly ... thanks

While it's certainly easier to trust a well known Rennlister, I would still recommend getting a PPI on the car. You never know when something might crop up, and it's peace of mind for both parties to know that a qualified independent looked the car over right at the time of sale.
I'll give you an example; before I relocated to Austin TX in June, I had considered selling my 97 C2 cab. I elected to hold onto it, drove it down here, and a few days later, my oil cooler dumped oil all over the place. Now, I was lucky that it happened at a stoplight and that I pulled right over, because if it had happened at 80 mph on the freeway, I could have destroyed the engine.
But imagine if I had just sold the car to a fellow Rennlister, who didn't perform a PPI, and he lost the engine a few days later when the oil cooler failed?

Hey guys ... just thought I'd close this loop and let you know the car has been sold at full price to a nice young guy in Vancouver. I've made sure Geoff will be frequenting the list, introduced him to the slope, and turned him over to your wisdom and devilish influence
At the end, I had a lineup of keen buyers for this car. Of interest, I've never seen a cleaner PPI. I think Geoff has a wonderful car at good value in this market.
Until then, my thanks and best regards, Doug

Just another case of the right car at the right price, selling fast. Looking forward to seeing pics of you in your R8! You'll really enjoy that car, I'm sure. The only problem will be getting back into it after stopping at the gas station, super market, hardware store - because there will probably be someone wanting to talk your ear off about it each time you stop!

I sold this car a year ago to a local Vancouverite for the full asking (see first post in the thread). I understand he is now selling it and I would be able to put any interested parties in touch with the current owner. I have no idea what the new asking price is, or how it has been treated in the past year, but when I sold it to him it was an absolutely remarkable example as others have attested in the past!

Yup, that's right after only one year I can't believe I am willing to part with this amazing vehicle. But things change in life and I am only glad I had the chance to experience the joy of ownership even if for just a short time.
Milage is under 94k and it just had full servicing at Weissach including brake flush. Otherwise all the same as the original post from the_buch.
Contact me if interested. gteoli@mac.com

I had first dibs on this car when Doug was selling it. Timing just didn't work however and I lost out on
it to the current owner. I'd be all over this car again if I didn't own my current C4S (which I adore BTW).
Too bad you have to sell Marmas! Good luck with the sale! What are you asking for it BTW?
