Default It was just an early morning rant...

I am certain the 964 is a peach...I just don't like Duck Tails...the 964 RSA tail is much more functional...but to each his own.

Sanding my paint off and taking a laxative before a track event is functional. But sometimes aesthetics and shame have meaningful influence. That ducktail is damn pretty. and certainly serves to help keep that thing on the ground. Compared to an RS wing, a giant POC-spec banana wing has yet more downforce. That thing is a road car. Balance is key.

I hope I can see these things in person on day...
I have seen both in person, and your suspicions are all true, they are both excellent examples. P1CR's color has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated.

Also note that is not an off the shelyf burzel, apparently. According to Excellence hours and hours went into forming it - I am not sure if that was more for aesthetics or function.

Both aesthetics and function. The idea, as I understand, was to enlarge the intake and get a seal around the intercooler - perhaps a ram-air effect. That required moving everything around a bit. The results are both a much prettier profile and very cool intake temps..

I'd rip that off in a heart beat and get the proper tail, a 964 RS America tail. There, your first project!

The 993 has a far superior rear suspension, hydraulic lifters, more HP, better brakes (assuming you install big reds) and readily accepts 993RS CS parts. I believe chassis rigidity is better on the 993....But the 964 does have a lower Cd.

I just ripped out my interior and replaced all the carpets and rugs with a 993RS carpet kit, all tucked in around my Heigo roll cage and a removable steering wheel, took out the passenger air bag, sold off the DAS-sport bar. Our ("Baby" and me) love affair has waxed and waned over the years (over 10...longer than some guys keep wives), but we are waxing again. "Baby" also has a GT2 tail and front splitters. She likes to park in front of large plate glass windows to look her self, well at least that is what she told me....now where are my meds? I have to get to work.
That duck tail serves a crucial function for the i/c and of course for aero. It took +100 hrs to custom make that piece. I wish i could have used an RSA tail but I could not given the challenges of the i/c. So to call this a "poseur" tail is not correct....moreover, I can say w/total conviction that there is simply nothing "poseur" about any aspect of this car.
