Default Split Grill mod-gaa-lue, really?

well, the C2S split grill is in transit, and I just checked out the DIY section of P-car. Holy $hit this looks like a project! Originally, I was just gonna paint the stock grill, but stumbled upon the split version.

It looked to me, that the stock grill was held on simply by a bunch of push on "speed" nuts so to speak. I really thought this was gonna be a simple...couple of hour change. P-car DIY says hours and hours, and the grill is epoxy'd in place.

Please tell me it ain't so... So, I imagine that unless the junk yard-oops, sorry "dismantler" is sending me the entire grill insert, that I'll need additional stuff to pull this change over off.

So, is the DIY on P-car right...or is there a simpler set of directions out there somehwere?

thanks

I looked into doing this in the past, and found out that it was easier and cheaper to buy a C2S that came with the split grill than trying to add one to my Cab, so I just painted my grill.

The easy way to do the split grill mod is to replace the entire wing and decklid as a complete unit ...

I will be listing a complete split grill + decklid next week ... stay tuned.

the DiY is right, it follows the pictured directions in workshop manual. End of body section. Though there is a part missing in manual and DIY. Split grill has extra strenghening bar to install. very well covered on previous posts on RL. regards

You can see the speed nuts on this split grill I am selling (with frame). I have an offer in the queue, but need to figure out the shipping costs since his offer is inclusive with shipping. If anyone else is interested, please PM me.

Cheers,

Mike

Magdaddy,

you'll like the look of the split grill. IMO it's the best wing for the 993 (other than RS of course).
We meet at Hershey-remember?
You are not slowing down yet are you?. You've only begun.

Rich

look at the first post in this thread

What has been your most difficult 993 DIY?

I discuss how much fun it is to remove an adhesive adhered grill in an aerokit II wing. I imagine you'll face similar challenges.

have fun

Craig

ps, not everything we want to do is "simple"

just got home to find the package with the Split Grill in it...I got the entire assembly, frame and all.

I'm simply dropping it off at my local paint shop, with a verbal...here ya go, let me know when it's done. That is what these guys do, I've known them my entire life, and completely trust them.

Now I just got to look into changing out the entire top portion of the wing assembly. Probably just as much a PITA, but doesn't involve any glue.

Tomorrow the shifter and ebrake handle should be here, and after that...the black rear jump seats. I'm slowing down a little here.

Getting the 964 steering column pieces to clean up the RS wheel fittment, plus a couple of other small items.

Pictures up when done.
