Default New 993 Gadget - the LED desk sign

Hello all,

Everybody knows Andreas' clocks, well, I decided to come up with my own 993 gadget. And being an Engineer, it had to use Engineering resources. So, I took my CAD software, my electronic knowledge and the CNC machine a friend of mine built in his garage and here is what I did.

I drew a CAD drawing of a regular 993 Coupe and another one of a 993 RS. With this CAD drawings, we cut some .25 Lexan with the CNC machine but not very deep to engrave the shape of the car in it.

Then, still with the CNC machine, we cut some wood to make a base. We drilled the base with holes in which I installed some LED's and the necessary circuitry to make the LED's work. Put the Lexan in it's base, hook up a 12V DC power supply and here is the result. The LED light reflects through the engraving, making the picture of the car shine.

Regular 993 Coupe:
Name: DSC01923.jpg
Views: 188
Size: 64.7 KB

993 RS:
Name: DSC01929.jpg
Views: 147
Size: 69.9 KB

The signs are about 6" in length.

Now, here is the icing on the cake for those of you who like this toy. My friend and I have some spare material (Lexan, wood, power supplies, LED's, etc...) and since we have the CAD files done, we can probably make 5 more signs or so quite easily. If you are interested, here are the conditions:
$50 + shipping (actual cost), which will include:
- Lexan sign engraved of your choice (Coupe or RS)
- Wood base unpainted (so you can pick your color) but completely wired
- 12V DC power supply (US prongs but will accept anything 110-220AC)

If you are interested, PM me. I will take the first 5 response in the order received. I will also keep a standby list in case some people bail out. If the response is very high, I may decide to run another batch of 10 or 20 later. We will see. I don't do this for money and I don't want to spend all my evenings and weekend building those things. But if some people like them, I would love to share my "artwork" with them

Very, very cool! Could you post a pic or two showing the piece unlit?

Put me on a list. I'll almost certainly take one when available again - maybe two.
