Default 993 clock vs. 964 clock

Anyone has any idea what the actual differences are between 993 and 964 clocks? Part numbers are 993.641.701.00 and 964.641.701.00

When put in the same 993 the same warning lights seem to show up at startup. But there has to be some difference between the two, right?

Mike,
I've never noticed a difference and I've purchased & used more than 100 of these...

Andreas, I don;t see any difference either, but am afraid that some warning light might function differently, perhaps. They generally do not change numbers without reason. Of 5 gauges in a 993 two have 964 numbers, the others should have 993 numbers, including clock. i wonder if there's any way to find out the functionality difference.

The difference is the immobilizer warning light. 964s don't have it.

Thanks, Ilko!

Actually, I was thinking along those lines. Would be interesting to find out when they actually changed over, as my car is 9/94 build and it came without immobilizer, but with 993 clock.

The oil gauge also changed at some point in MY96. Some early MY96 cars don't have a CEL because it's in a different location and not illuminated in the earlier cars

Aha, Mike is paying Andreas in quarters. It doesn't explain the sock, but we wouldn't go there

More seriously, the new clock came from a Tip car. I'm wondering if there's any significance to that. Didn't tips all have OBC? If so, maybe something to do with clock difference?

Certainly, but the "Bring it" refers to your threat.

No difference between tip and manual IIRC as far as the clock is concerned.

Sock full of quarters... Mike, you're doing laundry?

I thought you said sock full of quarters.

That looks like small change.

Cheers,
