Looks great Pat, I'm assembling mine today .

BTW, before I get out the grinder, how are you routing your Moton lines?
I've seen many pictures of the tenders on the top, but almost every pre-assembled coilover I've seen has them on the bottom. Does anyone know the pros/cons?

For the front I'm going to slot my shock towers and Mode camber plates. In the rear I had Staubli Q/D installed and I'm going to mount the canisters to the roll bar and route the lines through the pre-existing holes in the rear seat area.

you can tell that you have an issue if the sidemount is in contact w/ the chassis seam.

funny how no one else noticed this problem, Good eye MJB965
Thanks for the info Bill. I wonder if this will be an issue with the Smart Racing mounts I procured from Steve at Rennsport? Looks like I'll be adding an air chisel to the tool chest.

Cheers, Patrick

Tenders can be at the top or bottom, das macht iichts. Some times a tender at the top can interfere w/ the inner boot, it depends....

My solid sides were from Smart Racing and I had the issue. The other thing to be careful of is that the front and rear are different, look at the holes and compare to the chassis pegs to see which is which, they really should come w/ some instructions

you'll be very pleased when it's done

Thanks Bill. I saw your Pelican thread on the install and will use that as my guide. You're right, these expensive goodies really should come with instructions. Especially, from the guys at Smart Racing.

FYI the new Rennline 3-way strut bar won't allow notching of the strut tower edge (the cnc piece wraps around the top of the tower and includes 3/4 strut nuts), so I'm going to drill a hole through the inner wall of the strut tower and use quick disconnects.

Started the install. Don't laugh at my tiny garage, It was huge for 1932.

Left side:

Routed the Q/D through the factory hole in the rear seat. Sliced a cross in the rubber grommet and routed the line through:

Inside the cabin:

Canister reattached. The roll bar brackets I ordered don't fit the Moton canisters- new ones on the way.

Didn't know my right toe link was bad!

No worries, replaced with a Tarett unit.

Ride height is a little off, but headed to Piper Tuesday for the finishing touches.

Steven, I didn't see any part numbers on the rod ends. You may have to reach out to Ira.

Sorry to the Xenit folks

Also, forgot to mention the Motons were 6 pounds lighter than the JIC setup per corner!

I'm running Moton Club Sports on my 944 Turbo and they feel great. They aren't too bad on the street either.

Wow, 6lbs per corner, some of which is unsprung weight! Good to finally see the Motons being put to use!!

Thanks fellas.

Chris, I usually don't weigh stuff off the car, but when I had both in hand doing the measurements I was shocked (no pun intended) at the difference. I broke out the bathroom scale and was I amazed at the difference. Albeit, this was with the canister disconnected. They'll get a lot more use these days

Might I ask what you're doing with the old JIC's? How many miles on them?

Nice job. Similar to my install. However, I had enough line to route through the front gromets for the headlight wire harnesses (didn't want to notch the shock tower). Similar routing through the rear seats. Didn't have enough line to mount to the roll bar. Makes it a bit more challenging to make adustments, but not too bad.
