?? (rotating mass more significant than actual weight loss)
lightweight battery
@10-20lbs depending on model
removing teh air conditioning
??
heater bypass pipe instead of the blower and ducting
@8lbs
aluminium RS bonnet
@25lbs
RS small windscreen washer bottle
@3lbs
See above... based on memory .

Unless you are going for lightweight seats and carpets with most, if not all of the sound deadening removed, is there much point in some of the weight reduction?
I would look at carbon doors and bonnet rather than the RS ali bonnet, it is a fragile expensive frippery.
Obvioulsy keep the originals.

Agree with clubsport.

I think you may be hunting down som of the harder savings. 2k usd gets you a pair of Recaro pole positions. Theres 40lb+ just there. Better still you can re sell or re use latr and recover over half your investment unlike bonnets and doors.

Leave the aircon as its seen as an asset by many. The heater bypass in CF is a good one. Also consider Dach X for more sound, possibly a few extra ponies and a loss of almost 20lb.

Odyssey 925 with rennline brace is a good move as you say thers a good 10lb+++ in battery change.

If you want esoteric when you are ordering CF bypass ask Marcus for light weight fuel bump and gear shifter cover plates for under car. Theres 3-5 lb there in the middle of the car.

With seats, heater bypass, Dach X, Obyssey battery alone you are saving 75lb - 35kg. I think thats the best outcome without compromise...

Just some thoughts as I doin the same....

Cheers

Oops - forgot to add - having done the LWFC recently I can confrim there is a significant weight saving - in the region of 15lbs. So that would bring you up to 90lb and there are still a handfull of small and low cost things such as removing hood and rear dec shocks, water washer bottle, RSR mufflers thatcan reduce weight for another 15lb giving you over 105 lb saving at /no compromise.

Cheers

You can get to ~2700 fairly easily
RS/CS lwt fw & clutch
light wheels like MY02 996 5 spoke w/ track tires, MPSC are very light
strip stock floor insulation & carpets
strip engine compartment heating & ducts, replace w/ RS
remove engine compartment pad
replace seats w/ Recaro shells or similar
remove a/b's and a/b knee pad
strip trunk carpet, spare & tools
remove rear area panels
RS washer
RS hood props
RS door cards
remove radio & speakers
Fabspeed catbypass

add
big reds
rollbar
6pt harnesses
2nd oil cooler

replacing f/r hoods can get some additional but is expensive, same w/ sunroof removal

additional loss from l/w battery, a/c & componenets

I weighed my '96 C2 coupe recently. It came in at 2,855 on 1/4 tank of gas with the following mods:

Rear seat/seatbelt delete
Windshield washer tank delete
No spare tire or tool kit
Recaro PP seats
Cat bypasses
RS heater tube
Manual RS America 964 steering rack
Wevo engine mounts
Fiberglass hood

Since then I've installed the early 964 knee pads (saves 20 pounds) and I'm going to install a lightweight battery and the RS flywheel -- that should bring it right to 2,800 pounds, if not less, without sacrificing door panels/stereo/sound deadening/etc.

Do it all!
I kept AC, b/c it works well! BUT I was tellin coworkers the other day if I had an earlier 911 it would be gone...

Just keep all your stock stuff...

I pulled all bits in the trunk but I usually will put spare and such back in if I
drive far...

Steven is also planning to hit the gym, cut beer, wine, and chocolate, and wear his PJ's as driving suit.......this should cut a further ~17 pounds for our first track event of the year in 2 weeks time. Go Laddie!

Cheers!

Interesting feedback above. From various previous conversations, I had the impression that carbon hoods (bonnets for us UK folk!) can be expensive and in many cases do not fit well. Is that right ?

Also, if I could find somewhere that could supply carbon front wings - would that make a dig difference ?

Do people start to worry about the balance of (or change in) the weight distribution of the car ? It seems that it is easier to reduce weight from the front of the car than from the back.

Thanks!
