Decided to attack my "ticking" issue last night.
Pulled the LH lower valve cover and removed the rocker arms, pulled the old lifters and "popped" the new units in, then installed the cover. After the inital chatter during start-up, the "ticking" is now gone.

Its such an easy job, just remove all 3, it should be obvious from there. If the seal is shot or if the entire lifter is still compressed, there you have it.......the problem lifter

Nice job, it's propably coming up for me too although I haven't listened to my engine for 5 months. It's time to start her up this weekend.
I always wondered if we can upgrade to roller rockers. Doesn't anybody make those? I used buy those for my super beetle motor and gained some power and rpm through that too.
Still hydraulics on the one side would be OK. Does anybody know?

Which lifters did you buy?
I see two at Pelican one "standard size" for $34 and one "size 1" (.5mm shorter) for $270. I'm assuming one is made in Germany and the other in China.

I mean lifters with rollers on the face where it touches the cam lobes, not by the valve. It could still have hydraulic inserts but instead of a finger, it would have a roller. You could use much more drastic cam lobes incl. higher rpm for a really quick change w/o much hassle to install.
There must be something out there somewhere.
If anybody needs a pic of what the roller tip looks like, I can propably ****** one off the web.

Oh and make sure you keep track of which rocker/shaft go where.
