Default OT: 2010 Olympics. Anyone following?

I watched the opening ceremony last night. Removing my bias as a Canadian and Vancouverite, I can objectively say it was an outstanding show. It was 3 hours and 20 minutes long but you wouldn't know it. It was so engaging that time just stood still. Very impressive first class act. Rick Hansen pass the torch to Wayne Gretzky and him lighting the torch at the end was fantastic. This town is going off. Great vibe and it feels like 1986 all over again when we hosted Expo '86. Praying to the weather gods...

Nice pictures Louis!! Good job in the low light conditions. No EXIF on the pics, what camera and settings did you use?

Haha...wish I could take credit for those beautiful shots. They are from the LA Times website. I just posted them for those who missed the ceremonies.

Co-worker of my wife's has a rental or timeshare up there so they went up. Friend offered extra opening ceremony tickets for face value of $1700?!?!?!? Each. They passed. (Funny to hear of that in relation to a friend of mine who it appears has extra Monaco GP tix in the prime, prime, prime area at 700 Euros for all three days.)

But as far as Olympics go, I just cannot pay attention with NBC and their tape delay EVERYTHING on the West Coast policy in control. May have been fine in the '60's and '70's; not in today's world.

Opening Ceremonies were nice! Too bad that 4th arm for the Olympic flame didn't deploy indoors. I guess it didn't go faster than 40mph and didn't have the override switch.

Louis,
I would have to agree, very impressive showing. My wife and I were just commenting that we should go up there for a little R&R and take a tour of the city. Looks like a very nice place.

I used to love watching the Olympics and even visited the Calgary winter games site back in the 80's. The coverage now has become a snooze fest with all talk and little action and always the sappy stories that I just can't watch anymore. Watching on TIVO is even tough to do even though I enjoy all the Vancouver scenery since we have visited there quite a few times. I'll tune in to the men's hockey once it starts if it will be televised here in the US. I hope so but I'm sure it will be interupted by a male figure skating performance. Zzzzzz.....

For someone that hardly ever watches any sporting events at all, I still found it to be fascinating (the opening ceremonies). It was cool to see countries that only had 1 participant, like Jamaica come out into that huge stadium so proudly.

I'm always surprised each year that some of the strangest sports like X Country Ski Shooting (strange to me) are in the Olympics when some more generic sports like Golf, aren't included (in the summer Olympics).

It's very frustrating watching it from Seattle. Everything is delayed. Nobody in the state gets CBC. We are stuck with what NBC provides. The results of all the events are posted on line long before they are broadcast.
