Yeah, were talking hundredths of a second between the top 6 or 7 skiers. If you ran them against each other each day for a week, they'd all be gold medal winners, well maybe not Bode. In Millers pre-event interview he was asked if he's changed since Torino. He said he was skiing with more "care" but he thought that was a detriment to his potential performance. I don't think he's really learned much from his mistakes. He's fast, no doubt, and can pull it out of his a** if every possible variable just happens to be in his favor, but I think his brash 'cowboy' attitude still holds him back from greatness. Here's a quote about times:
"Miller finished just nine-hundredths of a second behind the winning time of Didier Defago of Switzerland. That's the smallest margin between gold and bronze in the event's history, which dates to 1948."

And what Bode had to say about that:
"It's such a relief to get a medal," Miller said. "The fact that those other guys beat me to the hundredth of a second doesn't bother me."

If this doesn't bother him, he really doesn't belong there. The difference is precision. The difference is Gold.

Agreed!! That really was a great competition, as was the women's the night before.

It has been pretty exciting all around to watch, so far. I was looking at the results of the men's downhill once all the times were posted. Their was less than a second separating the first FIFTEEN skiers - that is mind blowing.

We enjoyed the opening ceremonies as a family, seemed to be pretty well done. I can't say I'm a KD Lang fan, but I was blown away with her performance. Her voice is brilliant.

...leaving Stamkos and St.Louis off the team was insane... 95 NC 993
The problem being that there's enough good guys out there to form a second team.

But the selection process was certainly entertaining hocky debate, for months. I'm hoping the Yzerman team is an improvement over Gretzky's guys.

NBC showed 35 minutes of coverage for the Men's Downhill. 8 hours coverage per day on the main network alone and they devote a grand total of 35 minutes to Men's D/H.

Let's see:
Distant 4th place in network ratings
Complete Latenight disaster/failure/fiasco
Losing $200M on the '10 Olympics

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch (of idiots.)

Sorry for the rant.

And if Bode wasn't there..............5 minutes? Did you guys in Canada get the whole thing, and live?

I don't know about CTV but EuroSport had 1:27 of coverage (commercials removed) of the D/H, and the commentators apologized for joining the race late.

I thought the CTV coverage of the Downhill was excellent.

And tonight, it's hockey. I've seen various start times posted for the Canada/Norway game. The lastest, according to our local paper, is 4 pm mst.

I'm trying to watch but the coverage here in US sucks *****... Big time!

NBS just doesn't have a slightest clue how to broadcast an Olympic sporting event...
Instead of following an event letting the excitement build until the finish, they show some short clips from here and there and often tell the winner's name before that tiny clip and then there's a guy sitting by the fireplace talking on and on about some crappy stories about the athletes...

WTF?!

Great photos!

If the NHL network doesn't carry it I'm sure I'm screwed. NBC will never carry it.

I feel terrible for our US brothers. How can an international competition get such poor coverage...especially when you guys are playing such a big role, not to mention leading in medal count???

It's NBC, aka Nothing But Commercials. That says it all. (In fairness, before they got them it was ABC, aka Anything But Coverage.)
