It was a great hockey game and the Olympics were great overall. CTV's coverage made a difference because they had so many great people stories. As a side note, they might regret their decision to have had Donald Sutherland on as a guest. I'm still waiting for the fallout his comment to Brian Williams about Canada being great but its too bad we have military. I'm sure more than a few people were bent out of shape about that one.

I heard there were (4) tickets for the Canada/USA Gold Medal round for sale for $100k CAN! I was up the weekend before last and was fortunate enough to get tickets for the Mens Switzerland/Norway Preliminary round game. Here are just a few of my pictures from my weekend Olympic Winter Games visit to Vancouver.

Funny as I reside in Vancouver right smack in the middle of the Olympics venues and I chose to leave town for the month and go ice fishing and watch the games on tv from ice cold sunny Manitoba ( loving it ).
Btw I was living in Calgary in the middle of the 88 Olympics and hung around and just partied . I guess things change with oneself as you get older was 30 yrs young then .

Cheers Guy

Sorry you missed it Guy. I have other friends who left town as well. I considered leaving too to avoid the chaos but there was nothing of that sort. It was the best party I've been too.

Granville and Robson about an hour after the Canada-US win yesterday...

I stayed in town, went downtown and other areas a few times, and had a blast. Its been a family affair, with my daughter participated in the closing ceremonies (she was one of the white clad kids with snowboards at the beginning), and my wife building the outside cauldron, pretty cool overall!

What a great ending though...lets see if the Russian's can top this!

Cheers,

Mike

We were there for both the opening and closing ceremonies. Just the wife and I went over for the opening ceremonies but we took the kids and grandchildren to the closing ceremonies. Both were done very well. There were glitches but, all things considered, it was a great show put on by the organizing committee.

I know one thing that didn't come across very well on TV wass the roar in the stadium. We taped the broadcasts (CTV and NBC) and watched them both. At certain times one couldn't even talk to the person sitting next to them. It would have been futile. The roar in the stadium didn't even seem apparent on the TV broadcasts.

And to say that the downtown core came alive is a gross understatement. It was simply amazing!

Mike: Sounds like you and the family made the most of it. Great stuff.

Bret: Still trying to get my voice back. Seriously.

Louis-I experienced the same thing. I'm sure we are not alone. While approaching the stadium for the closing ceremonies I heard a roar from 9 blocks away when Canada scored the second goal. Those people will be hoarse for a few days too! But it is a good kind of hoarse.
