Car Names?
Holy smokes! I didn't even think I particularly cared for Speedsters. That's changed! Your car is gorgeous.
Finally!!!!!!!!!
Got the call from my wife today that my Excellence had arrived. Left work early, raced home tore open the plastic wrapper flipped open the cover to see what page the article was on saw the picture with the white page number on it...............started to laugh, this was no time for juvenile behavior.............read article, smiled, reread article, smiled again, spent an hour looking at pictures I had already seen.
The end of the article says this is the car Porsche should have built in numbers, I'm not so sure, then Speedy wouldn't be as special.
Congratulations and Thanks for letting a complete stranger share in your experience.

If I could own fifty 993s I MIGHT be able to satisfy my lust for these cars. Probably not though. With the many models, body configurations, colour combos etc. to choose from there will always be something different to motivate a new project.
Then there are the truly special cars. Like 9M's (Colin) 993RS/CS project from last year, Rob's "Blue Beast," and, of course, Speedy. Cars that take some of the best parts and ideas the factory had and either improved upon them or put them together in combinations not originally offered (at least not to common folk!). Cars that show their owners' vision and passion in the finished project.
Speedy is absolutely gorgeous in every way. No bad or awkward angles, nothing that makes me think "If only....", nothing out of place. Thanks for sharing her with us.

We name all our cars; some names stick some do not. My wife named the 993 Gerta, after Gerta Garbo, because she is a hot curvy chick in a little black dress. As a joke her name is Greta Carbo, but we never call her that.
Our F350 is big, 4x4, crew cab, long bed, and red so we call him Boris Truckloff.

Black Sabbath. I'm a huge BS/Ozzy fan so it just worked out that my cab is triple black. You will hear me coming with Back in Black from around the corner. Soon you will here me from around the corner with Fister Stage III's I can't wait!!!!!!!
Nicole the 911 ('97 Porsche 911 993 C2)
Jessie Jeep ('99 Jeep Wrangler)
Holly Honda ('96 Honda CBR600F3 Motorcycle)
Suzie Supra ('89 Toyota Supra ... RIP Suzie)
Lola Corolla ('84 Toyota Corolla ... RIP Lola)
I've never named a car till my 993.
It took a while but when a very cute friend that I met on Facebook, posted her five favorite cars, they were all various Porsches. The girl's name, Nina, is pronounced Nine-ah. It stuck.
My plates now read NINA11

My first 993 was called Claudia. (C2 Cab, non-VR, manual)
Current 993 is called Cristel. (C2 Coupe, VR, manual)
I'm choosing German female names that begin with C.
My next 911 (996 GT3 Mk1 or 930 Turbo LE/SE) will be called Helmut, which for me will complement Cristel perfectly!
I think the 996s are male and 993s are female.....
Pre '89 impact bumpers are male and chrome bumpers are female.
997s and 964s? Who knows......maybe hermaphrodites?

My 993 is named "Lucy", which is as much a comment on the cars personality as it is my driving ability.
My GT3 is named "Greta".
My wife's 325xi is "Bella"
My Tundra is just the "Pick'em Up".

We just took another wonderful father/daughter trip up thru the hills. I took her up around the local windfarms-there are three, along some of my most favorite cycling routes, and to a small waterfall of my youth. She was overwhelemd with the sites and sounds...of both the waterfall AND the car.
She is just totally fascinated with the car, I love it.
