++++++ Run as fast as you can in the other direction (how can a car get in this bad condition in only 30,000 miles??)!!

There are fairly priced and quality 993s out there, and you'll find one--keep looking here, cars.com, Auto Trader, etc and you'll get there. It took me 2.5 years but I found mine.

Check the recent post from H2NO

Good luck.

Default C4S's everywhere

check autotrader-check out 993 site mash, etc. There are probably 20+ 96-98 C4S's available nationwide right now. Some at dealers, some private. That kinda money...$42k will put you into about half of them. If your willing to spend that kinda money, you have lots of options.

I'm sure you can find a MUCH better cared for car for the money. The seller had better come back down to reality, or hope for a nieve buyer.

I wonder if the car was a garage queen, then sold to some jacka-monkey with no business driving a 993. Aforementioned jacka-monkey went for a wide-eyed ride & decided to get rid of it before it got rid of him?

Did you run a carfax?

How many owners?

Do you have a link to the ad?

I'd get another PPI first. Then, maybe $30k tops?

What does the paint look like? Interior? How does it drive? Be sure to compare the car with other examples because if there are that many items on the list in need of repair and that have been long neglected, you might need to add odometer to the list.

If you can't verify the miles some way I'd suggest running for the hills,,, but if you do go for it despite this, double the amount that the shop is quoting to bring it up to spec, x1.5 minimum.

Paul,

Do you give everyone that's not a member a hard time?

Yes. List your location already!

Just kidding, I didn't think I was giving you a hard time? Seriously though, it will help us if you add your location to your profile. Often the answers change depending upon location!

And remember, it's easy to get your heart set on a car, but that doesn't mean it's the right car for you. Now is an excellent time to buy, and I am sure that with your budget you can find a car that does not have bent rims nor a shimmy!

Mo-town, you should buy a car like this one:

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-interior.html

Everything you need done......is already done. Pay now or pay 2x's $$ as much later.

your ppi was ok (but compression was not as good as 964 i purchased last yr with 65,000mi.).
key issue imo is care & attention that prior ownership has given the car....and it seems with the kind of issues you are facing (shimmy, old tires, and worse) there has been none.

this is not a car you want to be involved with. they are expensive to own & maintain and unless they have been treated well/serviced regularly your costs of ownership will be incremental.

for the price you are considering for this car there are far better examples around (from p-car owners that cared).....don't rush & be prepared to travel a bit-will pay huge dividends in the long run.

It needs new wipers? Forgetaboutit. Look for another car.

Seriously, I don't know enough to comment on it that much but from what I read here, I would definitely start looking somewhere else. Isn't there a good car for sale from a Rennlister that has actually taken GREAT car of his car? That's what I would look for. I spent 4 months looking every day and found one 1/2 way across the country. Murphy's Law is that you will find a nice one no where near where you live. Just go for it if it's a great car and it checks out.

Good luck.

Yeah, that's what I'm talkin'. That C4S is quality and fairly priced, from someone who cares for the car.
