Default What Wing and Why???

Trying to see if you guys can give me some advice on what wing to go with eventually to take some weight off the back end, And for the looks.
Please Post pictures if you have a wing on your car and you reason of why you went for it.
Also who makes the best quality aftermarket wings? MA SHAW?
Choices:
Turbo Wing
Turbo S wing
RS Wing

My car is Black with Turbo Twists, But maybe one day BBS LM Wheels.

If you want to save weight, put on a fiberglass decklid. You only need a wing for the track, and even then, if you're an advanced driver.

If you just want to be fast and furious on the street, then don't worry about weight, just get something really snazzy.

Smile The best wing????

What Wing for a Black 993?
Turbo
Turbo S
RS

The standard Turbo wing look a bit much on a narrow body car, The Turbo S wing is very similar to the narrow body 993 Aero kit 1 wing. The 993 RS wing was made for a narrow body car.

Note in all cases, changing the wing will also require a change to the front splitter if you want to keep the car aerodynamically balanced.

Having said that, IMHO, the least obtrusive wing is the one found on the 993 RS car. Package the tail, front splitters and side skirts, and you have a complete new look for the car.

There is a Group Buy going on somewhere in this Forum for a complete 993 RS kit in polyurethane, GT Tek I believe. This could be a novel turn key approach....beauty is in the eye of the beholder...it's your car, do what YOU want.

I started out with the 993 RS look and now the car has morphed into a
993 GT look...just wanted something different.

I replaced the stock decklid/spoiler with a new decklid and RS wing. I didn't weigh them but it felt considerably lighter than the stocker. I would guess 6 -10 pounds lighter.

Even though I have the turbo wing on my car, my vote is for the Turbo S wing. I have a CF one one made by MA Shaw, waiting in my garage for paint and install, along with a Turbo S splitter.

.
Martin, I'm not singling you out, so don't take this that way:
Someone always post this on the wing threads. I don't get it. The 96 Turbo has the biggest stock wing, yet no front splitters, and no one ever complains about the balance. I can see where maybe the RS wing and splitters were engineered to work together. But the Turbo wing was installed by Porsche on all those cars...
Does the stock Turbo front bumper produce more downforce than the stock NA cover? Or, does the non-"S" Turbo get light in the front at high speed?
Help me understand.

there are 2 different RS aero packages
@270kph @ stock RS height
the smaller produces 178N of lift in front & 0 lift in back, Cd is .33

the bigger RS/CS package produces from 0 to 178N lift in front & -119 to -713N of downforce in back depending on how the wing is set. Cd is .34 to.36

the stock lid weighs 24#, a complete small RS lid/tail weighs 17.5#, a T/S complete weighs 38#. I need the weight of the RS/CS lid/tail

Lift in the front? Really? Why was it designed that way, do you not want down force in the front as well for traction and tracking? I don't suppose you have numbers for Turbo/S/GT front and back would you Bill?

Bill,

I'll have this for you at the end of the month.

The lid is the same as you've posted (24), but I will weigh the RSCS tail.
