Smile Keep in mind...it's

my hypothesis that this is the reason. It sounds logical enough, push down on the car, aft of the rear axle, and the car will get lighter (lift) up front.

Along these lines...I did a field experiment...ran a GT2 rear wing at 9 degrees of down angle, at about 120 in a sweeper, with 993 RS front splitters (Too small!), the car pushed like a demon. I slowed to about 100 or so. As I was turning in the car, it didn't take the steering input, behaving as if to say, "we are going straight." That experiment cost me about $800 in repairs.

We have been reading for years about matching up spoilers front and rear, or be prepared for understeer or oversteer depending on which end you have inadvertently unbalanced the car.

Damn, it seems like I have too much time on my hands. I had better get back to my chores, wifey on the way home, can't have any clutter!

Dang Martin, you need to work on your DOE, Design of Experiments.

Quit! I'm having flashbacks!

(I'm a Black Belt)

Great summary posted here on the effects of wings. I have Frere's book which contains the same info. I have always wondered what the effects of a turbo bumper are on aerodynamics, though.

Yikes! Thanks for posting the results Martin. This way I don't have to do the same experiment. Hey Martin, are you still running the Getty front end? How's that working out? Too much down force or just right?

Unless an intercooler is needed, a steel lid + separate wing is usually lightest
In case anyone is interested and keeping track of this stuff for comparison reasons, I just purchased the MAShaw fiberglass RS wing last week and weighed in at exaclty 9.8lbs (minus the plastic grill which needs re-attaching of course).

Those before/after pictures of Cactus' car last month got me sliding down the slope...again.... thanks alot.....://

Someone always post this on the wing threads. I don't get it. The 96 Turbo has the biggest stock wing, yet no front splitters, and no one ever complains about the balance. I can see where maybe the RS wing and splitters were engineered to work together. But the Turbo wing was installed by Porsche on all those cars...
Does the stock Turbo front bumper produce more downforce than the stock NA cover? Or, does the non-"S" Turbo get light in the front at high speed?
Help me understand.
