I think for my purposes Techarts or similar would work fine since I track (DE)twice a year, maybe.
Also don't forget that if you are comparing 17" vs 18" wheels you need to be comparing the weight of the entire wheel/tire combo and not just the rims as 17" tires have more rubber overall than 18" tires. Also weight variance between different tire brands/models in the same size can be meaningful and IMHO 1-2 lb difference between rim designs can be offset by tire weight differences.

I wonder what the raw weights are though...if you were going to compare them to other 18" wheels which are ALL heavier than 17's how much heavier do the Techarts come in at....hmmmm?
Call the guys at www.wheelenhancement.com (no affiliation) and they can provide the individual weights for these and many other brand wheels.

For what it's worth there are planty of wheel manufacturers out there with forged 18" wheel in the 20 lb range even for rears as big as 18 x 11's. They'll cost a bit, but Formulas are not inexpensive wheels either.

Very very nice! It looks like your camera is up to the task of capturing the best of the 993! I still love your wheels too.

OT...
I have a D90...is your 5000 an SLR as well?

im running new Kerscher RS speedline style three piece wheels I just recieved from germany. 8" front at 48 ET and rears are 10.5 @ ET56. Its very agressve but they fit. I did reduce the height to very close to RS and got some rubbing when going over big dips. I have rolled the rear fenders a little (by hand) to eleminate this. Youd be suprised what will actually fit and look good. IMHO the close you push those rears to the fender edge the better they look...

check my pictures on recent threat "self gratification with pictures"

Thanks

M

Will do Andy...the trouble will be finding tires right now. I wanted PS2's, but they are out of stock! If I find my WB this summer, I'll sell you these wheels in the fall

Wow Mark......going wide, huh? Put me in the A-spot if you end up selling these. I hope you keep your NB arena though...and, the PS2's are always worth the wait. I have had them on all my cars for years and love 'em.
