What are the performance gains?

I get it: upgrade to Roots Supercharger, and lose a gear. Sounds fair to me depending on the HP gain. Does anyone know the wheels? Looks to be a nice example.

I had this same kit on my RSA. Easily 50hp over stock. Very noticeable and linear. Loved it!

I dread to ask what a blower kit like that costs for a 993? I have not looked into superchargers at all for 993's but if I were to just pull a number out of my **** would it be north of $8K US?

Yes it would. Got to www.tpcracing.us for more info.

For that much money I would buy a factory turbo car but sine mine came with it at the time at no additional premium it was a no brainer.

Love the color combination on that car. Where do you find blue carbon inserts like that?

Mine too ... love the power. I've gotten so used to it that when I drove another 993 without it, I first thought something was wrong.

It's $10k for the one with the intercooler. TPC was seeing over 300 WHEEL HP with the kit.

You know, ever since Alpinadvl posted about the one that got away, this has been looking better and better. Anyone know if a rebuild is mandatory before the motor can take the extra strain? TPC website suggests that when they say: "On a fresh motor with high performance exhaust, this kit is capable of a massive 355WHP and 333lb/ft of torque." ...

The TPC kit has been around quite some long time now, and a few folks here have that, or variants of it. And IIRC all were very satisfied with the results. May I ask how these cars and kits have endured? How many miles and years have you SC folks accumulated, and what kind of repairs have you incurred? Would love to hear your experiences!

Here's my experience with the RSA I had up until recently...

The TPC supercharger was installed when the car had 66K miles and only the supercharger was installed, no intercooler. The motor was not rebuilt at the time. Rebuilding the motor is not a prerequisite for the install. The car produced 327 crank HP but I had some exhaust work done which made it close to straight pipes.

The car was tracked regularly after the install, and I had it up until it was at 83K miles. The oil was changed once a year. The oil usage was minimal. I'd go between 2 and 3K miles before having to add a quart of oil. The only thing the car needed was a clutch at 75K miles. Now that might be because of the supercharger, or not. I'm not going to speculate. But what I do know is that the car was driven harder than most and I had no issues with it. I ran oil analysis with Blackstone Labs after every oil change and they did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

That's my experience, YMMV.

Tempting, but am I to understand that it would be difficult if not impossible to return the car back to stock once supercharged?

It's a bolt-on install, as long as you keep your stock parts (intake manifold, heater assembly) you can go back to factory set up later. The only thing you might notice on a previously supercharged car would be the 3 holes that need to be drilled in the engine carrier in order to mount the belt tensioner.
