Annoyances, if any, with your 993?

Probably for the Amercian market. After all, the automatic was invented in the US. Also look how many "enthusiasts" driving Corvettes have automatics in them. You can't even rent a manual shift car in North America.

I had a 1995 BMW 3 series which is the same year as my recently acquired 993. The interior of the BMW was far ahead in the way of design layout and materials. I actually like the spartan interior of my 993; one of the reasons I did not like the 997. But the BMW wasn't nearly as fun to drive as the 993; not even close.

It's my only substantive complaint. The interior layout is actually very good, and the styling is nice too. It's just the materials. Am I driving a VW Jetta? A plastic dash and vinyl door panels? Seriously?
The 996 is even worse. Porsche finally got the memo with the 997, which has a phenomenal interior, IMHO.

Annoyance: Death due to lack of cabriolet OEM rollbar option.
Plastic rear window in the cab is hard to understand. American car companies even had glass back then.

My gripes:
Shifting and gearing is all wrong
1. The clutch petal throw during shifting is far too long
2. Gearing is a tad tall, especially going into 3rd gear
3. RS Short shifters should have been stock on these cars - too much travel in the gear selection.
Interior
1. Vinyl door panels/handles - And this car sold new for $65K in 1995 dollars? Cringe.....
2. 40% of my dash instruments are blocked by the steering wheel in front of me....

1.**** poor headlights.
2.Windscreen wipers are pretty useless for a car raised in Europe.
3.Noisy heating and ventilation.
4.Asthematic air conditioning.
5.I find my hard back sports seats very uncomfortable (and no, I won't swap!!)
6.The chubby steering wheel.
7.Heavy clutch pedal.
8.Door check straps.
9 Radio reception.
10.Noisey Sunroof.
11. Oil consumption
12.Fuel consumption
Other than that, the most reliable, well engineered car with incredible character, there's something about the 993 that gets under your skin........wot a PIA!!
