You know, all the little stuff that breaks doesn't bother me so much. What really bugs me is how crappy the leather wears in a 993. I've had Nissans and Hondas with leather where I wouldn't so much as wipe them off for 50K plus miles, and the leather cleaned up great. But in my 993, you'd think someone found my seats at the same time they found the Dead Sea scrolls, because they're in the same condition.

German cows must scratch really easily.

You can't wear big shoes and drive the car. Not that I have huge feet (size 12), but I wouldn't throw on my Columbia low rise hiking shoes to drive the car. Is it just me or do I really have Big Bird feet? Seriously I always look at my shoes before I turn the key. Pedal placement is close.

There was a few:
  • SUV height - fixed with PSS10s
  • stereo sucked - fixed with Rod Birch subs
  • not sporty sounding - fixed with drilled air box and Fister Stage IIs are on order
  • headlights suck - fixed with some HIDs

Now if I could just get some more mid-range torque

Its still the most interesting car I have owned.

My only two complaints are that compared to older 911s the 993 is too quiet. And the standard comfort seats don't offer enough support for spirited driving.

But let's not forget that the 993 is a sports car. It's not meant be super comfy, or have a telescoping steering wheel or to be able to drive it with hiking shoes, etc. After all that's why they built the 996

No cup holder. They finally got that right with the 996.

I guess I'll put a few items here...in no particular order...just as they come to mind: passenger has minimal leg room (so I hear), rear tires wear out fast, A/C isn't very cold, when I have the windows down (almost always), the little zipper that hangs down on the rear section of the headliner, rattles when the wind hits it, factory height too high (fixed with PSS9s), factory spoiler module raising/lowering all the time (fixed with Ruf module), headlights are pretty weak (I use the brights all the time...they're like really good dim lights)...I guess that's about it. I have no problem with: radio (I don't use it), Flywheel (is it light??), leather wear, immobilizer, driver leg/head room, SAI issues, valve guide issues.

no offense, but perhaps being an acceptable distance from the steering wheel without having your knees under you chin would be beneficial for the sports car driving experience.

I have a huge spacer and the wheel is still pretty far away.

Ouch and point taken, but sometimes I don't want to change my skids just to drive the car, but you do make valid point sir. My car over the 996 everyday of the week.

The leather is pulling away slightly from the hard seatbacks.

The one thing I don't like is some 993 parts are model specific and are expensive when compared to 911SC's & 1980's Carreras similar type of parts.

As far as being too noisy to blast music, I pulled my stereo fuse due a short and have left it out for almost 6 months. Don't miss the distraction at all...............ZP44

Headliner will separate from the cab top when the top is down if the boot isn't on.

Pedal postion is kind of close. I wish also that I could bring the clutch pedal closer to me...
The too quiet thing and ride hieght (US) is just govt regulation, not porsche. Still, it must be lowered and loudened!

But heck, it is a PORSCHE and we love them in spite of, or because of they are not Nissans. If they were, what would we have to do instead of enjoying this discussion?
