In the home appraisal business, the opinions of builders and realtors are worthless. The only thing that matters are comparable, verifiable sales.
Pay for an appraisal that includes these and stop wondering.

According to "the book" my motorcycle was worth about 6500 Euros. Thanks to an appraiser, I got 9500 Euros who happened to pull an add from a local dealer who had the identical motorcycle for sale and with more mileage.
Those published values are guides at best.

Amazingly enough this type of thread comes up every year at this time, one can't believe everything they read.
Interestingly enough, it seems most of the UK publications have nothing but praise for our 993s in recent comparison articles.
Unfortunately the authors of these domestic publications don't do their homework compiling comparable sales figures for these types of articles that are essentially regurgitated from the years previous. Just look at the artwork that accompanys the text and you'll see the shoddy cut and paste layout. That's why I'll only pick up these issues to read off the rack and return it to the rack with a good laugh.

(Anyone who knows me is well aware that I don't go out to the garage to rub one out over looking at and/or listening to the car.)

As far as I am aware, Bruce has not responded to any questions about methodology. Many have emailed and asked...no one has gotten an answer.
I state this definitively...
....in hopes someone posts to prove it wrong!

I believe one of Bruce Anderson's biggest problems is his uniform 10% adjustment for low-mile cars. Clearly, you cannot take a car that would, on average, expect to have 60k miles given its production date, but only has 5k or 10k miles and adjust the "market price" by a flat 10%. The price adjustment for miles would have to based on the difference between expected miles and actual miles. This is certainly the way it works in the market . . .
