993 vs. 993TT vs. 997

no Turbo tails? Man, i LIVE for that tail look!! That's what makes the car look like a Porsche. It is the first thing people comment on when they see my '97 TT. Ask anybody who doesn't really know cars very well and even THEY know it (tail car) is a Porsche. W/O the tail they won't know as often.
Either way, though, 993's are the way to go IMO.

I dunno. I would argue that without a tail, they always, and only, look like a Porsche. No other car shares that same shape. I don't think it's the tail that makes it identifiable as a Porsche, I think it's the overall shape, which, I think, the tail disrupts.

I thought I would get over that disruption when I got my Turbo. Never could. Driving around, I felt like a rooster.
I just love that 8 foot line from the top of the windshield to the back bumper, goes on forever. To me it DEFINES the 911 look, ruined in '99.

As to reliable, I'll let you guys know in a few years, as I only have 30K carefree miles.
As to fun, if only canyon twisties count, I do miss my rear WD C2S dancing from corner to corner. The AWD 997 TT is more planted and predictable. But not less fun. Just different.
My wife was sad when the 993 drove off sold, as we both agreed it looked more beautiful and classic than the 997.

My P-Cars are not DD so their value long term are also a consideration.
I agree with your thoughts on the visual appeal of the air cooled cars.
