Default Hooray! Loving my 993 this yr. Only cost $121.05 for all of 2009 in maintenance. You?

Well, it's the end of the year. How did you fare this year, maintenance wise? Was it an easy or awful year in that respect? Sometimes that can be the difference between loving your car and cursing it. I'm loving mine now. I can't believe it hasn't broken down at all like it has in years past. I keep waiting each time I get in it for a light to go on, for it to just stop running (like it did last year when the alternator died), a hose to break, a tire to go flat.

It's not really paranoid, just realistic. It's a 14 year old car now with almost 100k miles. Something is eventually going to go bad on it again. It's incredible to me that the the motors in the seats still work great and the lights in the interior have never been replaced (don't they ever die?). Cars are amazing to me. They last SOOO long without breaking down. It sits in my garage but in the most frigid temps you could imagine these past days yet starts right up after not having been driven in weeks, and with no trickle charger.

Here's my final, meager list for 2009...

$110.14 Labor only: To fix shifter problem (but they didn't actually fix it due to incorrect rubber grommets I supplied them with from Suncoast), Replace Trim clips attaching side skirt
$10.91 Little rubber shifter piece from Suncoast (even though they sent the wrong one!)

$121.05 Total for 2009

That's a lot better than the small fortune I spent on it last year. Guess I lucked out.

How bout you? How did you end up for the year on actual maintenance expense to keep it running (don't include extraneous mods in this amount!). That's going to be hard, isn't it? I know you...you want to list all your mods here.

Happy New Year
Steve R

I guess the question is how many miles was that?

My car sat for most of this year, so I couldn't give an honest dollar amount. Although that amount was zero.

I thought your $121 was going to be for an expensive DIY oil change. I'm pretty sure that annual is the minimum interval, so you may want to revise your total up a bit.

3 brake flushes(with 1 clutch slave flush)= $76
2 oil & filter changes=$205
1 transmission flush= $92.50
All DIY...
Kuehl A/C evaporator= $1200.00

All in about 8000 miles. She just rolled over the 140,000 mark.

I just re-looked at my receipts and apparently I only drove the car ... $3k miles last year! What's up with that? Yeesh. I need to take that baby out more often.
It had 82k mi on it at the end of 08 and 85K on it at the end of 09. Never got an oil change this year which is why it cost so little to maintain, I guess. The last oil and filter in October of 08 was $144 for the labor, $90 for the mobil one, and $13 for the oil filter. Yikes, that is an expensive service... and this is at my indie!

Not many hamburgers worth. I didn't do much this year because I didn't drive my 993 much more than 1,500 miles. LOF is really it... 944 was the money pit of the year...

The number doesn't seem to matter.

My 993 is like a strip joint, I keep throwing money at it just so I can stare at that ***.

+1.

Maintenance costs? Although I keep ALL receipts for parts/maintenance/mods etc, I NEVER add them up. Not sure I want to know.
