While I love the clock and fan idea and really want one for my garage I have to wonder are we making a mistake given the limited production of both and possible future needs???

I'm not quite sure how to answer this, so I'll try my best...

Clocks: These come from wrecked cars and are available for you to purchase as well. I am not hoarding the world's remaining supply of 964/993 clocks.

Fans: Each and every one that I've used has come to me with cracks, corrosion, or splitting blade ends. None were fit for further use in an engine compartment.

Discuss.

^^^^ I m not sure I understand MarinS4's comments. Does it really matter who, what, where, how or why the clock parts are sourced. I really don't think Andreas is cornering the market on clocks and fans. Who really cares if he is anyway it will look awesome on my desk.

My POV is will there come a day when they are hard to find and people will look back and think WTF they use to cut up those rare pieces to make clocks.

Don't get me wrong I love em and want one!!!

Part of the problem with the clocks is working on them when a warning light has a malfunction--it is almost cheaper to get a new or used one that is in good working order. For Andreas' projects, it doesn't matter if the warning lights are functioning or not, so the effect on usable clocks for cars is minimal.

Of course if it is in full working order with all of the warning lights, then I will have a back-up if something happens to the one in my car.

Andreas' clocks are not modified or damaged in any way and could be easily removed and reinstalled in a car. Same with the one I built. As he said, the fans are damaged and it wouldn't be prudent to use them on a car.

I have to figure out a way to wire one of the clock warning lights to my wallet so that it tells me when to stop buying 993 Mods online.
