There were several options available for the RS in all markets it was sold, many of them bringing them closer to "normal" Carrera spec on the inside at least. Also, the 125000Euro RS of which you speak, if the same low-KM Riviera Blue example, was, as you said, repaired and also originally from Europe I believe.

LOVE your RS btw.
OK, perhaps I didn't understand your comment properly . Just for records, the Riviera Clubsport is not the one damaged but one which my brother said did not have a full history on when he inquired otherwise it will be sitting in his garage right now with me drooling all over it from afar - it then got sold on as full history so the specialist dealer either managed to get hold of previous owners or that they did the unthinkable. It did look nice on the pictures. The polar silver RS sold in Europe which was imported to UK then Germany was repaired and I believe did not have the aluminium hood and that was advertised for 125K Euros (presumably after the hood was reinstated).

Happy Holidays..
Agree with Clubsport's comments on the 964RS comfort.... I don't see the point in such a car (sorry for anyone owning that version, it is just a personal opinion - very much like someone may say my RS is full of crap that just defeats the purpose of a light wt. car (JP any comments? ) in which case I agree ) - I wanna Clubsport too.

Harry, how could you doubt my stance on the issue...

Lighter is better.

Harry, I had the notion of selling my lightweight to buy a CS, it took 2 years to find one I was happy with, after missing out on a couple of good cars.
All I can tell you after a couple of years of ownership is that the regular RS, may well be the more useable car.
Although I am more than happy with mine, I like the rarity and it is always an event to drive, but with a good low spec (a positive!) proper RS like yours, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to switch,,,sometimes it is better the devil you know.

If the right car turns up then so be it?

Very well put and coming from someone with hands on experiance. Harry, I just love your RS, the somewhat understated look of the small wing package, the GR color , the recaro buckets and the order to sample interior bits, wow! Although the CS version looks killer, I really like the look of the regular RS, your avatar shot just shows the beautiful lines.. Plus it's more useable which might help resale in the long run. I wouldn't be in a hurry to switch if I were you..

Harry, nice looking car! (but then I would say that).

Genuinely prefer the smaller spoiler kit myself.

Always keen to learn more about these fantastic cars, but putting the pieces together...Is this a Japanese spec RS, that was supplied with euro wings, indicators, standard interior (non full welded in matter m003 cage), but came with CS/RSR wings as standard?

Also interested in how many Jpanese spec cars were delivered. were any rhd??
Or have I just confused myself with the above!

Would be grateful of clarification if you have it,,cheers

Sorry Clubsport,

I don't have details of numbers of Japanese spec RS. They came with CS spoiler pack as standard. That yellow CS is a standard Japanese spec car - I assume the customers could specify whether they wanted the smaller wings. I am not aware of any RHD RS in Japan as most imported cars are LHD in Japan and I have not seen a RHD one advertised at all. Some European RS have gone over to Japan. The Viper Green RSCS that you may have seen sold in Japan originated from H&S as I saw the same car on Thom's site when I was looking for mine back somewhere in 2001-2002.

Thanks for the clarification, some of the specs to car in this part of the world seem to be a bit of a grey area.

I recall the viper CS, looks amazing!....I recall when it went to a Japanese collector/dealer, I don't think it turned a wheel for a few years.
There was a white CS which TS had a few years ago, I knew the car when it came to the UK in 2000, while I was enquiring, the car was instantly snapped up by the same Japanese buyer.
Dare I say it, but I am quite glad to be out of the hunt/game at the moment, nothing worse than getting close to buying a car, having the rug pulled away from under you and then try to retain composure for the next possible purchase, without scimping on the neccesary due dilligence.

Cheers Maurice, hope you and your family have a Great Christmas.

That was a memorable day at Bedford, they are superb photos. I do hope the passenger ride didn't push you further down the slippery slope of modification. As if you needed even the slightest of encouragement!

Must catch up at a Porsche event in 2010.
