Carrera RS
I found well cruising the internet at work today.
http://www.autoscout24.de/Details.aspx?id=bglpcisjyzuj As usual no affiliation or any of that: for that matter no means to purchase either... Enjoy, --Joe |
That seller must be dreaming of they think they will get that......surley?
I'm doubeling the Euro though, but still. Nice car but too expensive I reckon. |
Nice car. Its probably too valuable and too uncivil for street use. What caught my eye was that lovely open engine bay. Its the mechanic in me. :D

The problem with that price is if I had the money I would buy it and drive it. WTF fun is it to buy it and look at it in the garage?

Graham,
RS's over here - are getting between $250 and $300K AU (and as we are almost parity (94c) its really really expensive in US pesos.... Simon. |
What's with the airbag steering wheel?

That car is very nice, wish it was in my garage. |
I looked at all the 993 on that website. Overall asking prices seem to higher here in Germany. I figure my 993 is worth about $30,000 in the states and 30,000 Euro in Germany.
If I didn't like it so much I would sell her before I leave here. It is very tempting to sell her and pick up at C4S when I get back. I have lived here for about 10 months now, if I was really smart I would have picked up a long hood and brought it over and sold it. --Joe |

Climate, stereo, steering wheel and even the sunroof were options in 993 RS.
Gladly they were not sold in US, because if they were, half of the RSs would have a friggin' sunroof. |
Matt777, don't worry about the RS being too uncivil for use on the road, I used my previous RS as a daily driver for a few years..No problem at all.
I often hear the legend of a sunroof option fitted in an RS and no doubt on the factory exclisives/special wishes program it was possible. Despite this, having been an RS fan for quite a few years and seen more than a few examples in the metal and more on the net......I have never seen an RS with correct chassis vin and a sunroof actually fitted. I would love to see a photo of roof and matching vin, if anyone has seen such a beast, more chance of seeing a unicorn? |
^^^^I was lucky enough to see roughly 25 993RS' at the end of 95, 2 at a dealer in London, 3 in France, and 5 at various locations in Germany. Plus a dozen or so RS/CS cars at the factory. None had a sunroof, two had airbags. I've heard that cars sold in Japan were equipped more like a regular 993, some even having rear seats! NEVER seen any evidence though.

Exactly Tim,,,The legend lives on!
My previous RS was a comfort, fitted with airbags, electric windows and a/c, it still had the necessary Recaro buckets though, rather than the no cost option Comfort non electric recliners. I understand that at some point in the mid '90s, there were tax breaks on new cars to medical professionals in Germany,,,hence quite a few RS were specced with more of the comfort accesories, these cars have since become known as German Dentist Spec RS. I know of 2 RS with the rear seats, but nearly 15 years on, it is unclear if these were factory or dealer fitted, as it would not be difficult to get the parts from a C2/4. |
