Default introduction to my 993 rsr build

I recently picked up my first 993: a Polar Silver '95 C2. I bought it as a project that my friend Roberto started almost a year ago. He had the interior gutted and had a cage welded in. He then bought a c2S turbo (he also owns a 997 gt3), and decided to sell the rsr project to me. I started working on the car in December, I'm hoping to have the body work and paint finished by mid Feb, and I should have the car on the road by March 1st. I'll be receiving some help from Colin Taylor (Auto Sea Racing) and Ralph Meaney (Meaney Racing). I'm doing all body work, Colin is doing the paint work, as well as helping me build the carbon roof.

Going onto the car:

Body:
- Kevlar / Carbon roof
- RSR flares and front lip
- 3.8 RS wing

Interior:
- Leather Recaro Pole Positions
- Schroth harnesses
- Leather RS door cards
- B-quiet ultimate sound deadening
- German RS carpet kit

Suspension:
- KW V3 coilovers
- Tarett drop links, front and rear
- Tarett adj. toe control arms
- monoballs
- subframe mounts
- Walrod bushings

Wheels:
Kinesis K28's 18x9 18x11
3 piece Twists 18x9.5 18x11
Fikse FM5's 18x9 18x11.5
RH 3.6 turbo wheels 18x9.5 18x11.5

How the car looked when I took over the project:

Wednesday I prepped the cage for awlgrip anti-corrosion sealer and did some test fitting with the flares and various width wheels. Thursday I painted the cage with the sealer. Friday I prepped the cage again and painted two coats of awlgrip 545 primer. Tomorrow I'll prep the cage and interior for base coat and clear.

updates coming soon

Thatcher - good luck with the build. If it ends up as nice as previous cars you've done, there will be much drooling on this thread...

So, the real question is which wheels are you going with??

Wow Thatcher! Nice to see you finally took the plunge. Have you sold either the corrado or GTI yet?
Good luck with the build man. If this turns out to be 1/4 as nice as your previous cars we are all in for a treat!!!!

Cool car. Do you plan on racing it? If so, you might want to check the racing org rules about cage building. The main diagonal should meet at the node with the other pipes at the top of the b-pillar, I believe. I'm looking forward to your updates.

Thank you. I'm considering building a set of Techart Daytona's for the car that i've got sitting around, but I'll probably stick to the origional plan and widen a set of Supercups that I just picked up from Larpy (Chris).

Hey Derek - i sold the corrado to my good friend mike almost two years ago, and the GTI was sold to a guy in Maryland a couple months ago. Thinking about picking up another 93 Corrado SLC for daily driver duties.. That or another z3 m coupe. Selling my M3 next month.. i'm just ready for something different.

I plan on doing a few track days here and there, but nothing too serious.

More pics please, particularly of the cutout of the fenders you had to do for the flares.

I am thinking of taking a saw to mine!!!

My softback sport seats came from that black donor car:

Dude how long have you known Colin? That guy knows what he is doing. He built this 912/911 franken car essentially from scratch. I have been lucky enough to own it twice and both times I sold it there was a bidding war with many unhappy peeps:
