Ok. My other post failed to garner response. Trying this one:


1. What size tires do you have on the front of your 993?

2. How old is your suspension?


3. Are you having any problems with rubbing, bottoming out etc.

I don't have a NB but front sizes won't differ from a WB on the front.

1. I currently have a set of 225/40/18 for the street and just put on a set of 245/35/18 on my track 996 hollow spokes. The 245's are close to rubbing but don't I'm guessing in part by the 35 aspect ratio...I've also seen a 245/40/18 Nitto fit without rubbing but note that neither that car, nor mine is not slammed ride height wise. I think I'm a touch higher than RS)

1. 235/40 PSII on CIII wheels with ET57 and at full lock they rub very (stress very) slight on the inside. But I rarely turn full lock.

2. PSS10's just above RS height.

225/40 17 on stock offset, ROW sport ride height and HDs that are about one year old. No bottoming even out going quickly straight across my driveway gutter.

Before I swapped these shocks, things were a lot uglier. Will have to repair a little rash on the front when it comes time to paint.

Question for Flat6, what are you running on the rear for your track setup? A friend just gave me a slightly used set of Nitto R compounds when he sold his 996 GT3. 245/40-18 front, 315/30-18 rear. I called Wheel Enhancement and they said these would never fit on a 993. Just curious if I should try it out or give them to another friend who has a 930 with monster flares.

I am running 235/40-18 on 8.5" rims at the moment, and in the past have run 245/40-18 also on 8.5". The car is slightly below RS height and have never had any rubbing issues.

In the past I have had 255/45-17's on 8.5" rims and the car lower than it is now and on full lock it would touch the body on the inside, normal driving and on the track no issues.

I am running 295/30's on the rear but I have a WB...not sure if these would fit on a NB. Maybe with the perfect offset and wheel configuration you could squeeze them in but again, this is a 295 not a 315. I could probably fit a 315 with the perfect offset but I think a 305 is as wide as I would likely go. That said, my friend's Nittos (cgfen on rennlist) were 305's in the rear I'm pretty sure and he has a WB as well. They fit fine. I would swap the tires for something that won't risk your sheetmetal.

Also, depending on your alignment (stock vs. track), I would caution you if you are thinking of keeping the fronts and getting a smaller size Nitto rear as you could have an oversteering monster with the 245 up front. I have a track alignment (-2 degrees camber f/r; 0 front toe; max caster) and I NEED the 295 in the rear to keep things balanced at the limit. This is even after dropping my rear anti-roll bar 2mm's...I had so much front end grip with the new alignment I needed to soften the rear considerably to get things to stick. Before the track alignemnt I had to stiffen the rear to get things to rotate due to the lack of front end grip. Even with my current setup I would say my car is on the loose end of the handling scale...but it sure if fun to drive

Thanks Flatsix. I have a NB... doubt the setup would work. Just goes to show that bigger is not always better. Balance is everything.

Thanks for the feedback gang. I just picked up a set of Biltstein HD and M030 springs today; not new, but at 5k, I am hoping they will be new enough to cure what ails my suspension. I guess I'll wait until this kit is installed before I decide about having the fenders rolled or stepping down to 225s.

So you're able to squeeze a 245 tire on the 18x8 hollow spokes?

Sorry for the bump but I'm currently running 225s from the previous owner on 18x8 hollow spokes and really want to go to a 235 tire, possibly wider, for the front for track use without having to buy a new set of wheels.

A nice setup for n/b is 8.5 ET56 w/ 245/35(or 235/35) & 10 ET65 w/280/30 x18

Yes, I know of 3 993's with PSS9/10's that are running the hankook Ventus v12 in 245/35/18 on an 8 inch wheel. One of the cars is even lower than mine in the front and no rubbing after a few track days. Bill is right that ideally I would want an 8.5 inch rim but this size works on an 8 inch and I don't want to buy diferent wheels...although it is the max size I think allowed.
