I would like a thicker three spoke wheel for the 993 while keeping the airbag. What are people running? Any pics? Where do you find them? Thoughts, people?
Most go with the 3 spoke 996 steering wheel. Direct bolt up. You need to upgrade to the 996 airbag as well. If you search you should find lots of info.

As said above; 996 3 spoke. bolts right up. One of my favorite things I've done to my car.
The most gratifying and noticable change you can make!

Raid Daytona 340mm.
Thanks. Two questions:
What is the width of the 996 three spopke?
Where should I look for one?

that steering wheel is awesome !!
I run the standard 996 three spoke carbon fiber wheel in my 968.
I had to bore out 1/8" on the inside of the hub, remove 1/4" off the outside of the hub to make the inside run 3/8" smaller so it would fit safely over the 968 steering shaft.
then i had to make a few minor changes to the diameter of the housing that holds the clock spring, adding the 996 clock spring and running one extra ground wire inside and safely grounding it to the chassis at the firewall.
all working perfectly in my 968 !

I got mine in "The Mart" on the PCA website. Otherwise, I know Gert has them:Originally Posted by inkatouring

If the exchange rate kills you, you can price it from Sunset Imports too.

plenty of 996 wheels in near perfect cond on ebay.
save about 500 dollars there... airbags run about 900 dollars new... ebay a bit less... the one you see in my hands was grey until i got the SEM vinyl paint on it... prep it and 3 very light coats, then some armour-all and you're there.
for any 993, a new airbag isn' a bad idea anyway, of course
i got my set up:
wheel ebay LA Porsche Dismantler $125
clockspring German Auto Dismantler $100
airbag LA Porsche Dismantler $600
