Never mind my suggestion, , LOL. I just realized you wanted an air bag wheel.

I suggest you try out several wheels before buying. They all feel very different. The FVD/Raid is much thicker and contoured to fit fingers etc., the 996 wheel is closer to the stock 993 wheel. Diameter differences also make quite a difference in driving feel. Do you want stock diameter, or smaller? Not sure? Find a another car with a smaller wheel and drive it. Everyone has a different goal for a new wheel, and consequently a different opinion of what is "best".
My opinion is that the smaller diameter, thicker contoured FVD wheel I installed, was one of the best mods I have made to the car. It completely transformed the driving experience.

There are a couple of RUF wheels on E-bay right now too--debating about making this swap myself (currently have the 996 3-spoke with wood trim).

Do a search here for "CPZ". That's the thicker, chunkier 3-spoke steering wheel. It's 3 spokes with an airbag.

It's what I have, although I don't have a current picture. It's really great. I also temporarily had a regular 996 3-spoke, and it feels thin and plasticky in comparison.

the Porsche emblem is set on the bag in such a way that it will not become a missile.

An emblem should never be added to a bag, or taken off.

Someone asked what are the best upgrades for the 993.

I would definitely get that hideous stock wheel out of there and have the 3 spoke upgrade on the list somewhere.

I think the 996 three spoke is absolutely gorgeous, and the perfect fit for maximum control but that's just my 0.02 .

Thanks. Yes, it is the same silver badge that goes on the 996 and Boxster's SW's. It is set in place the same way the stock 996 badge is, with 3M double sided tape.

I really want a blue 3 spoker but no luck in finding one yet.

If the fvd wheel didn't have their logo on it I would go with that one, but that logo depression looks bad.

helmet155, I agree! I would have ordered the FVD sw but the their logo on the bottom and no porsche emblem on the air-bag....bummer.

Im looking for more of a stock look but upgraded. A thick 996 3 spoke in a 340mm diameter.......does such a thing exist?

I'm not sure of the diameter of either wheel, but when comparing the too I was a bit alarmed that they appeared to be the same diameter and the upper spokes appeared to be in the same position. However, upon installation, I was relieved to find that the spokes are in fact lower on the 3-spoke wheel. They are at "9 and 3" instead of "10 and 2" as on the 4 spoke wheel.

To me, the spoke position makes the biggest difference in driving feel and steering precision. I have changed wheels in a Miata, M3, and 993. All had spokes at 10 and 2 that I changed to a wheel with 9 and 3. The difference in all of them was amazing - especially the M3 where I was significantly faster through some turns due to the confidence factor of the improved steering feel.

The 3 spoke wheel has to be a "Top 2" mod made to my car since I got it.

The FVD logo is a puffy sticker. Easily removable. At least on mine.

I emailed Gert and found an aftermarket (Raid?) sw, 340mm and thick. No logos and all leather.

They are all the same, Raid and FVD, even the Ruf, are made by Atiwe. Even the various model names of those brand steering wheels are the same: Silberpfeil, Daytona, etc.

There were some pics posted lately that showed a distinct depression where the fvd/raid logo rested in the leather..

Would anyone please clarify or post some pics of the sticker logo thingy?

TIA
