I use regular blue wiper fluid. MUCH cheaper and seems to work fine.

Do you need some peanut gallery action?

Pentosin CHF-11S or CHF-202 which supercedes the 11S.

I've purchased 202 from a Volvo dealer - if that helps.

Big A, you are just too funny. LoL!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping that this will be straight forward installation. But you know how these cars are. Be on the lookout for updates to this thread. Nonetheless, please keep me in mind for spark plugs and wires installation. Got the wires, just waiting for the plugs. Will let you know soonest.

Thanks Van. Most appreciated.

I was wondering where I can buy this stuff. If I can't find it at the local Walmart or auto stores, I'll check for it at the nearest dealership in my area.

FWIW, the Pentosin CHF-11S is the stuff Porsche switched to in early 1996. Before that it was CHF-202

If I were replacing a rack I'd switch to the 11S. Concensus (if there is such a thing on a forum!) is that the 11S is kinder to the rack seals. I tend to think that the switch was made for a reason.

CHF-202 is petroleum based
CHF-11S is synthetic
CHF 202 and CHF-11S can be mixed.

Mark, from what I have found over the years in my internet travels, CHF 7.1 came before 11S and that 7.1 is mineral based and not compatable with 11S. I think the switch took place in '91 or '92. CHF 202 is the current stuff, superceding 11S, and what you will get if you purchase from a Porsche dealer that has current stock. Both 11S and 202 are synthetic and are totally compatable with one another.

I may be wrong about all of this though.

correct, 7.1 is not compatible with 202 or 11S.

Interesting statement on the Lufteknic site... and looks like it came from the Pentosin site. The 202 can states ingredients right on it. I just re-read it to check my all-too-often bad memory
Definitely petroleum in there. Pentosin themselves also call it synthetic... hmmm. Maybe not full syn? The actual can does not say "Synthetic" anywhere on it.

202 Ingredients:
1. Lubricating Oil, petroleum. Hydrotreated neutral oil-based
2. 1-Decene, dimer, hydrogenated
3. White mineral oil (petroleum), light paraffinic
4. 2-propenoic acid, 2-methyl, and a long list of stuff that sounds synthetic + more methyls and ethyls
5. Distillates, petroleum, solvent-dewaxed heavy paraffinic

11S clearly states synthetic on the can.

Not sure what superseded what, if there was a supercession, but I've heard that the 11S is (allegedly!) better on the rack seals. I have no empirical data either way.

Like many of these decisions, it probably doesn't matter

LOL. Makes you sound like an infamous car dealer in Texas. Your cars are shinny on the outside but a wreck on the inside. I hope you at least put Pentosin in the washer tank.

Has anyone ever flushed/purged their PS lines of old unwanted fluid? I would really like to start with fresh Pentosin oil. How's that implemented?
