Congrats on the 3.2, but I'm confused.
You got rid of the 993 because it didn't perform well enough for you, and the attention from the police. Then, after a failed experiment with an S4, you purchased another police-attracting Porsche that doesn't perform as well as the 993 that you ditched because it didn't perform well enough. Huh?
What am I missing here?

So back to a trusty 911(my 5th), but this time I wanted to 'build one', personalize it. Oddly enough over here the Police don't bother you in 'classics' and if they do its only to 'look it over'. For "uber' performance I have an S8.

Hey Uber -- I love your 3.2. I have an '89 coupe, Baltic Blue with a linen interior. It makes me very happy to see your lovely '88 getting perked up again. Mine has 32,000 miles so it's still pretty clean, but the nose and hood are pockmarked with chips. Mechanically, it's done very well for me. It just squeaked by its annual safety inspection here due to the brake pads being worn down to the minimum levels, and so I'm getting quotes for replacement -- they're the original pads from 1989!
We have a '97 C2 and a '98 C2S (my husband's) and I consider the '89 to be a terrific complement. The 3.2 series feels like the epitome of the "old school" 911 before the 964 body came in with significant styling changes. To my eye, the 3.2's carry through the same body style as the early 911's. I love the 993 styling as well but it's definitely a different look from the early 911. I think you've made an excellent choice in a 3.2, and I hope you enjoy the restoration project. Let us know when you have more pictures to share.
(I'll get some photos of our cars when we get a nice weekend for some outside pics...)

Thanks Betsy and my sentiments exactly... "old skool" - looks great in that they're utterly timeless, very simple underneath which gives a very engaging drive and size.. its tiny! Be interesting to see your pics of a 3.2 with a 'brace' of 993's. ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Strewth, original 89 pads - thats 21 years old its got to be be record! yours must have been one of the very last 3.2, in fact I dont think I've ever seen an 89 3.2 over here, the 964 was introduced that year.

Love the color! Great looking car and the script adds a nice touch. I've been wanting a 72-73 but the prices are getting silly. The SCs haven't started climbing yet so your project looks very interesting. The IROC bumpers are great, any cracking or issues with the fiberglass? Oh, and welcome back!

IROC bumpers are pretty good quality, no cracking/crazing, back is an easy fit, front by contrast a right PIA! I did strengthen the top part of front bumper where it meets the hood, it wasn't that rigid and rippled. IROC's drop about 48kg off the kerb weight which brings it down to 1162kg
I have to say its such 'fun' drive, Euro spec with the SW chip and no power assistance - real old skool. I want to drive it much more than the 964 or 993 I had .....and boy does it turn heads
