Default Safelife Auto Glass - Ever use them?

While driving to work, what sounded like a thrown hammer, a rock hit my windshield from a driver in front of me. Man was I pissed. So my insurance co is recommending me Safelife to do the repair work. So, I dropped by their service center this morning and spoke one of their techs. He said that he's been installing windshields on Porsche, Mercedes and many high-end cars for over 26 years. And by his description of how he installs them and the materials he uses for lowered or HD suspension cars, he sounds like he knows what he's doing. Does anyone have any experience with this company?

I just had them install one on my 95 993 last month. They brought a van out to my mechanic. He uses them regularly. No fuss no issue ..it looks great, the seal is fine. I spent three days at the track immediately following install and no issue.

I've used them, they do use only Sigla glass. No complaints on the installation, but the complaint I do have is that the glass chips very easy. I already have a crack on my wind shield again. They came out and put some glue in it to stop it from cracking any worst luckily the crack is down by my wipers so you can't really see it. One of these days I'll have the Windshield replaced for the 2nd time but I'm not sure if I'll use them again because of the glass they use. Just my .02

What is the going rate for a Safelite install?

A local shop just gave me a $1,500 quote for an OEM replacement (the only type available)...pricey if you ask me.

I had mine done by Safelite a couple years ago and it was under $550 for OEM.

Happy with the results here!

I thought I read here that PPG no longer makes replacement glass for us, so it's Sigla or nothing these days?

we used them all the time when I owned Exclusive Motors, and I had my 993 cab windshield replaced by them too. Good service, never had a problem....

JasonF - I got a quote this summer for just over a grand at York Auto Glass in Warminster, PA using Sigla glass. Looks like we're paying that hidden East Coast tax compared to others.

Used them two years ago and don't have anything bad to say. I have a picture I'd have to dig up, there were 20+ people working on my car! I guess they don't see a lot of P-cars =0

They used Sigla glass and it was a little under a grand with new seals
